Ha, yah, Hook Burger is supposed to be the "high end" version of the habit..

I submitted a bug report via the feedback app, it seems odd that it fails only on wifi and not cellular/data, and clearing the network settings via general did not fix it
Failed SSL?
  • MDM with root certificates for SSL inspection being injected?
  • Internet provider trying to impersonate SSL MITM decrypt?

IPv6 issue?

Hacked Wifi router?
  • If at home, can you reboot the Wifi?

Is Private Relay on?

I can see the benefit for certain training venues as well as being popular among gamers, but that pretty much eliminates most people I know. Now if tomorrow we’re all strolling through the Oasis as in Ready Player One, and I can afford a full sensory set up I might pay attention. When that happens someone wake me if I’m not already dead.
AR also has benefits on seeing items appear in the home/work in real space, information overlaid on what you're seeing (manufacturing, walking directions), QA applications, etc.

VR has gaming, training, remote experience (drone for insurance adjuster or inspections without a ladder).

This is just off the top of my head, now then there's what we haven't seen yet. Imagine going to a pro sports game and having the lines you see on TV there in your glasses in the stands, stats, etc. There are so many possibilities.

The best beta I’ve ever been on.

Everything works. Phone hasn’t crashed once on 16.1, .2, .3 WhatsApp has always worked. Safari is fast and responsive.

I’m at the other end of the scale on my 14Pro wondering what all the fuss is about. But it is a beta so you know you might be in for a choppy ride. Just always back up. You’re asking for it if you don’t.

The rush to install, can be your downfall. Ha. Just made that up.
I'm also having few issues on a 14 Pro. I wonder if it's HW dependent?

Have to disagree.

The reported Pressure in Weather is frequently not the pressure locally. I can turn off Compass Calibration and it has no apparent affect on anything in Weather. CC does have an effect on accurate step, distance, stair climbing, etc...
But I think there is something here. The phone is basically recording steps and workout activity like the watch, and I assume you don't need an "active" workout in progress, because it's supposed to detect when you're working out and retroactively offer to record the past workout.

Step data has incline/decline, which uses altitude via the baramoter. There may be a cause here.

I just want them to fix the f… GPS on slow speeds and on a steady support speed is always 0. Looks like i have parkinson … shaking the phone all the time to get the speed update (probably movement sensor/gps issue) but noboady cares
I laugh only because my wife does this when she has a signal drop. Literally shakes it like a martini. 😆

I was navigating the other day and saw something about this when I got out of my car. I tapped OK without fully reading it but it had something to do with AR walking directions.

It is a possibility. 🤔
I was unable to find anything definitive on this.
I tried it with Compass Calibration off and this appeared to have no effect on steps.
Stairs has been an ongoing issue on both phone and watch so I could not use that.

For now I'll just keep my eye on it as we move forward in the betas.

Did that when I got my 12 and I had a corrupt iCloud back up. Takes some time but so worth it. Amazing how your phones runs after. 👍🏼
With the speed of downloads - not only my ISP but also apple cloud - it’s practical now.
It was a nightmare even a year or two ago… but then again, so was a corrupted iCloud Photos library.

I was ready to complain about the beta but it seems like a lot of the bugs and battery drain worked themselves out. Seems pretty smooth.

I generally OTA the beta, then will flash the same beta as an ipsw update from iTunes on my PC so it’s a “clean” install. Doing this has significantly improved my beta experiences.

I posted before about how smooth this beta was, but since then I’ve gotten a few complete lock-ups while doing some pretty routine things (unlocking the phone, opening multitasking, opening an app). All have required a hard restart and I got the “send crash report to Apple” message after restarting. If there’s no beta 3 this week I’m probably going to go back to 16.2.

Other than these crashes I stand by my earlier comment about how this beta has been great. No hit to battery life, smooth performance, fix to the constant-on location services… It’s a shame that I might have to downgrade.

do you have to do restore mode to flash w/ IPSW?
(that is, a clean install from scratch)

I presume the answer is "yes".

When you update today/tomorrow with the new beta/RC… do it using the IPSW file if possible.

Will give your phone a better chance with a full new install of all the files, rather than an OTA patching over with just the changed files.

This “clean” install, I call it, might just sort that crash bug out in the system. 👍🏼

I’ve seen huge benefits from reinstalls using the IPSW files and check post 212 also.

Pearsey. Hi. I have a PC with the latest version of itunes. I have an iPhone 11 pro max. Everything at this stage appears to be running ok on my iPhone. As a just in case situation can you please either advise me in detail how to download and install an IPSW file or point me to where the instructions inn detail are listed.
Thank you

Nope, I can do "Update" in iTunes and merely hold shift when you click 'update' and install right over the same exact software version. I've found that the install quality feels better.
I just did this last night - thank you.
I "replaced" B1 with B2 right over itself.
Actually appeared to run much faster than OTA... oddly. (maybe because it didn't have to extract on device... dunno)

This sounds good, but i don’t thinkn it is a difference between ota and “clean” installs. There are engineers who code this, way more versed in the anals of ios/bsd than any of us (majority of us). Files that change are overwritten.

yep true.

but there is a difference from the mere reinstalling the whole system. trust me, done it, and quite a few on here have to with great success. your call buddy.

Me too. Always have OTAd, followed by Update with the IPSW later in the day. Am also seeing very few, if any issues. 14PM
I think it's some kind of magic, but it really does work - for me.... and obviously Pearsey ;)

omg yes, I’ve been proactively restarting my phone to avoid lock ups.

I have the always on location services bug. I’ll make a backup, and reinstall ios from ipsw. I’ll keep my fingers crossed :)
