So about the square notification bug, I was literally writing this post to ask if it’s been fixed, when I checked my notifications to see what happens, annnnnnnnnnnd it’s NOT fixed lololooolo.

Maybe in 16.4? 16.5? 16.6? 16.7? iOS 17 beta 1?

Can’t believe it’s not fixed yet. A simple and awful bug. Apple what are you doing?

In my humble opinion both iPhone 14s and iOS 16 have been a disaster. My 13 Pro running iOS 15 was a perfect match.

But this will still not stop me from upgrading every year.

Ill let you folks carry on.

Im off to annoy our Manchester United members in Football thread.

Brb.

Have tried a restore? reinstall with IPSW file? blah blah blah...

Also, happened to me, I had a corrupt iCloud back up, created all sorts of problems once. So I started from fresh. takes some time, but I stopped moaning to myself. was really rewarding after when my phone purred.

Feels goooooood turning that advanced data protection on over here in the UK. Easy peasy.
Do you use physical keys or recovery keys? I am debating buying a couple Fido keys but combined is more than I want to spend right now, haha.fffff

Have never seen this on my 14PM thru any of the IOS 16.xxx versions including this RC. In my daily use, I've been completely without any bug affecting my daily usage. Everyone uses their device differently so YMMV.
I see it if i scroll down the CC. But its doesn't seem to be causing any issues. Not quite following why this is a "bug" since most everything on the phone (inc other apps) are using location services to enhance what they are about. Same with FindMy. How is FindMy supposed to work to locate devices AND airtags if it is not regularly checking for location?

Anyway it seems normal to me but if folks are worried about it using a little battery, then perhaps location services need to be turned off.
I’m guessing it does have something to do with findmy since it’s always showing up in the battery section every hour I use my phone on 16.2 and before. But I have amazing insane battery on my 14 pro so I don’t worry about it. I feel like findmy is endlessly checking where the phone is all the time and checking where devices that are associated with it are. But it doesn’t use much battery at least in my case. Annoying that it’s always showing that it’s pinging the location. Which it might very well be doing. Probably all by design.
I concur. Don't think it's a bug at all.

Updated both my 13 ProMax and iPad Pro 11

First thing I noticed is shuffled all my Safari Favorites. They match across my devices but … they have been well shaken.
Next was in YouTube and still seeing the occasional stutter in playback.
Notification function is still limited to Apple Core apps only.

Will check on the rest after this settles out/down.

I always set up as new device when i upgrade the device every year so use to the hassle.

Last time i set up as new was when i downgraded from beta 1 to 16.1.2.

I’ll wait for the public release next week and then restart again.

Does turning on recovery key removes the recovery contact?

I click on the Notification and anything other than Apple apps, the associated app usually doesn’t launch.
A long press also fails to bring up either a menu or preview.

News App - No Menu, Rare Preview, Rare opens app - used to launch app
Bank App - Nothing - used to launch app
Reddit - On one I get everything while others I get nada - used to get everything on all
Security App (2FA) - Nada - used to launch app
Game - Nada - used to launch game

It used to be pretty consistent. Either the app offered or it didn’t and the result was consistent. This round of betas I don’t know what I’ll get except for Apple Core apps.

I believe you can have both recovery key and recovery contact, from some conversations I was reading last week. I just used the key, and saved it in my password manager.
