iOS 16.4 Beta 2 ― Bug Fixes, Changes, and Improvements

Looks like stability and performance have been improved! Improvements being made. So that’s good.

The fact that whoever runs that page does those tests in a time frame relative to the fact that most of us are still trying to get the update installed is not only absolutely, but its astonishingly worthless to place any value or stake in. Software updates be, it a full update or just a delta take several hours to days to full bake in and settle. IOS reindexes after an update for several hours alone. never place value on benchmarks is the moral of my story here. they are 1% of a story and bear zero value.

Wow they finally fixed the bug where Podcast settings were still there when the app was deleted, that's been there since 16.0.

why can’t they get the Lock Screen Notification Centre right, the animations are awful it jumps and skips all over the place every beta it glitches out in different ways

Please submit a bug report regarding the game stuttering and dropped frames (I have). We need this otherwise, they will state there are no Recent Similar Reports when there's one report for an issue.

I'm in the public beta, and it doesn't give me the developer beta option in the settings, only public beta. I was able to install it, selecting "No" in the section to choose beta and installing the profile that I used up to now.

iOS 16.0 changed the animation when you turn the page in the Books app. This 16.4 beta brings the option to revert it to the way it was before: https://www.macrumors.com/2023/02/28/ios-16-4-apple-books-page-turning-animation/

Agreed. With the betas for iOS 17 (since there will be no profiles for it at all) you won't see the option for those betas at all.

Obviously the 16 betas will continue..

Always amazes me that folks as about battery life literally 1 or 2 hours from the release of the beta.

This will be interesting to see if my expired dev account will let me install the IPSW. Won’t prompt me for a login signed to a paid dev account.

EDIT: all ok so far!

I don’t believe we will be cut off until iOS 17. I think the dev profile will work for all releases of iOS 16. I just think they are getting it ready in 16 so devs can get to 17 when they drop it in June without a profile for 17.

Perhaps a(nother) sign of the direction of things to come with Apple Music Classical and the illumination of its relationship with/development alongside the standalone Music app.
