I just had an existential moment, where I suddenly realized--- Beta releases are buggy. But so are the non-beta releases. So why do we even separate the full releases from the Betas? One isn't really better than the other in my experience. They're all the same....

Well, I want to believe that final releases are more stable than betas. I mean I have no experience with iOS betas but a beta is software in development. There might be bugs in final software but I think not at the same level…

Betas have new bugs. By the time the public release comes, those bugs are no longer new ;)

Smart invert on certain apps not working as expected though I’m not sure if this has been existing bug prior to beta 2. If anyone has any workaround, please suggest. That will be great help!

It seems like this beta starts live activities of teams you're following. A live activity of today's Yankees game appeared without me doing a thing. Either that or I accidentally hit a button, but I don't think I did.

Edit: And here's something I've never seen before, the Yankees scored and instead of a notification popping up, the entire live activity showed up at the top. iPhone 12 Pro Max. Ignore the notification badge on the phone, it's mostly spam lol

Now that’s behavior we want to see! Having to set up Live Activities for each game is tedious.

How are you “following” the Yankees?

That is how it should work, if I choose to follow a teams games or an incantation I shouldn’t have to remember to set it up for every app every day.

Ok. Figured it out. And had already been following several teams. But I’ve not seen it pop up automatically. You might have been “picked” randomly as a trial.

Really hoping this is a thing.

This is why I stay enrolled in the beta program. Each release there’s a chance of improvements so I’d rather have more chances and hang out with this fine community more often.

It's possible that when I got the notification that the game was about to begin, I tapped it. But I don't remember ever tapping the "follow live" button, which is how you typically trigger the live activity. But the live activity appearing at the top when the team scores is definitely new.

Since 16.4.1, I now receive a notification for my followed team when the game starts. Tap on it and it starts Live Activities for the game. Before 16.4.1, when you tap the game notification, it took you into the ATV app and you had to turn on Live Activities in there.

I have had a lot of trouble sending pictures to android users on b2, they always fail to send and I have to try several times to make them go through. Really hoping b3 fixes whatever is causing this.

Just had an epiphany.
There’s no good reason to talk about battery life on a beta. No one’s going to stay on a beta forever and unlike bugs in a beta the battery life good/bad doesn’t carry over to the public release.

So my thought is that we should skip talking about battery life on betas and just focus on the bugs.

I wish. But some people like to post huge screenshots of their battery so we can not learn anything as we've no idea how they really use their phone.

Plus, where would be be without some wag posting "How's battery life? Is it snappier??? hahahahahahaha" a few seconds after the beta is released. And then there's all the posters telling us how big the beta is, cos we all really care.

...

The reality is that these threads are the best on Macrumors. All the rest pale into 💩 compared to this one.

It's the descent into madness and the resulting sobering-up posts such as this one, interspersed with actually-useful information and observation, that make these threads so fun and such a classic on MacRumors. In spite of our obvious personal and experiential differences, for better or for worse, we're here together. :)
