How’s iOS 16 affecting the battery life of smaller phones like the SE3 and 13 mini?

If I reduce the text size to the minimum (which is impossible to use with these old eyes), the clipping on the battery Lock Screen widget resolves... but any other setting causes the clipping to return, and it gets more obvious as one increases the text size. It also always clips if you have ZOOM enabled... and the effect is more obvious on smaller screens (I have a 2020 SE, and apparently, it affects the iPhone mini, as well).

Reported the issue... and now we wait.

This is the only issue I have so far. iPad sync's just fine, but iPhone won't. I am using an older Win 7 machine, so I was kind of blaming that, but if you are on Win 10/11 and it doesn't sync then maybe it is just a iOS bug. I was able to do a backup in iTunes for each device.

Yea I have this problem too. Someone said to encrypt the backup then sync but that didn’t work. Plus I do have iCloud backup on which works.

I know how to change the font size for the phone, I was thinking (or not thinking) that there was a separate font toggle for the Lock Screen vs entire phone.

At the risk of sounding completely inept, what are you referring to as “the icon,” and where?

This highlights the need to report, report, report bugs. Different device configurations lead to different outcomes. That’s why Apple has this beta program. It’s a small price to pay for early access.

(and this is not targeted at the person I’m replying to. It’s just a general comment)

I just sent myself a voice message using the actual voice message app in iMessage so I didn’t bother anyone with rambling lol. It crashes my entire Messages.app anytime I try to play and now it just says this - presumably because it won’t switch back to iMessage. Dunno if it’s the new “app” or if it’s because it was to myself lol.

I installed the public beta profile to be ready for July, is it normal if it’s written « IOS 15 beta profile »?
Or do I have to wait later to subscribe to the beta program?

I’m sure someone has replied by now but if not: no, you’ll need a new iOS 16 profile, which will be released at the time that program is ready to start.

There is still an active iOS 15 beta ongoing and all the iOS 15 beta profile will do is keep you in that program.

You'll have to wait for an iOS 16 public profile. About a month. Or you could install the dev profile for iOS 16 before then, if you're feeling adventurous.

I don't understand these new wallpaper settings? What is the "readability" on / off switch and the random coloured background suggestions supposed to do?

I have a "ocean" wallpaper right now but it suggests me a blurred background of my dog or some random colours where it just says "configurating ...". Don't get it

If I had to guess “readability” is a setting to ensure that there is enough contrast between the background and your app icons/names so that the latter don’t “disappear”.

Pasting in Twitter works, haven’t tried anywhere else yet

works for me but if going through control center, it takes you out of CC and it opens the remote as if a separate app - definitely not as quick or smooth as it used to be. I wish they still supported the remote app.

If you long press the remote icon in the control center, it opens a lot smoother than just tapping the icon!

Any changes to the podcast now playing screen? Have they brought it in line with the music app playing screen?

This is what it looks like, definitely looks a little different now.

iOS only unfortunately. You get the new default look, but not the customisation on iPadOS.

I don't usually have bluetooth on, so this could be a bug from before iOS 16, but ...

Continuity tells me on my phone "Safari: From macbook" and when I open it, it goes to the page I'm looking at on my laptop. No surprises there, right? Except I never, really never, use Safari on my laptop (it's in private browsing mode and no tabs are open) and the tab Safari mobile then opens to is the one I'm using here, in Firefox. ♫ Twighlight Zone ♫

Yes, it's a good idea to switch to public beta when it drops so useful feedback can be given

At this point, I would assume any unusual behavior is a bug and not an intentional change in the application’s behavior.
