the telephoto camera of my iphone 13 pro since beta 5 offers very poor performance. it destroys the colors and there is no detail at all, if you enlarge a little there is a lot of watercolor effect. my iphone 11 pro at 15.6 offers better performance.

it does this on 15.6 as well, it uses the main camera and just crops the picture in poor lightining situations

Interesting tidbit: iPadOS 16 beta 7 is 20B5027f, which indicates that it's based on iOS 16.1. A subtle acknowledgement confirming the October timeline.
It‘s not 100% the truth though. The capital letter does not equal a point release, it indicates the kernel version / an kernel upgrade. Most of the times these happen with point releases but there are quite a few times where a point release had the same kernel version as a major release (e.g. iOS 13 and 13.1 both being A).

I just verified that, even in good light conditions, it cuts the main one. Why do we want a telephoto camera then?

Noticed a new “copy subject” option upon long-pressing a photo in Safari.
We saw that in beta 1/2, it’s part of the copying an object.

One of my iPhone’s is on Beta 5 (I forgot to update it) and I get it:

Meaning that we will need two separate threads here now? One for iOS 16 and one for iPadOS 16.1.
As long as they’re being released together, I don’t see why separate threads would be necessary. After all, it should be apparent about which software version one is talking depending on which type of device they’re using.

Also, I’m noticing that this icon seems to be flashing a lot when waking the phone or accessing the Lock Screen. Didn’t have that issue in previous betas.
