Also Homepods have a major bug on audioOS 16.0 (already reported), where if you log out of your Apple Music account in the home app you cant log back in without factory resetting the pods. It either times out or shows an error.

Not sure why then would bother making and releasing an out of band update if they weren’t critical fixes?

3rd party apps still have focusing issues on the 14 series which makes scanning QR codes and barcodes annoying.

I wish it too. I wonder if 16.0.3 will be available for tvOS and audioOS as well, or of it will be just an IOS release like 16.0.2. tvOS and audioOS also have bugs...

You are making a lot of potentially unwarranted assumptions here. There is no indication that these are critical fixes; they may simply be convenience fixes. Also, we have no idea where it is internally and have no way of knowing unless we worked there (which I can say, I do not).

I do believe that in order to justify a X.x.x release the fixes are more than minor "convenience" fixes otherwise they'd just build them into the next scheduled release. They may not be critical enough to bump a beta build off the tracks, but they are certainly more critical than not.

There is still plenty of bugs to be fixed in iOS 16.

As always, it is not like iOS 16.0.3 and 16.1 will fix them all. OS development is like walking towards a horizon - a constant work in progress.
