It was all over twitter and this site that they were releasing 16.0.3 soon
That’s not Apple telling people.

It’s the rumour mill, based on website logs.

We’ve had this situation before, about 4/5 years ago where there was a supposed release seen in website logs, that never materialised

You should not equate ‘it’s all over twitter’ with ‘Apple told everyone’.

Also, to be clear, I’m not saying it’s not coming, I’m just saying that it’s a possibility it’s not coming.

16.1 isn’t that far away now, so it’s not that much a wait.

It’s possible that 16.0.3 might not come at all. I’m sure we’ve had it before, where a version appeared in website logs, that never came to fruition.

So, I’m on the fence as to if it’s coming.
Unless it was just being tested internally? MacRumors noted that they saw that version in their logs, but that doesn’t mean it would see a wide release..

I’m still thinking we’ll see 16.0.3 soon’ish

It would make sense to release 16.0.3 on Monday and 16.1 the week of the 24th. But it wouldn't be a problem waiting until the end of October.

That doesn't make sense at all. release 16.0.3 and 2 weeks later release 16.1? If it were me, I wouldn't bother with 16.0.3 and just focus on 16.1. Now if 16.1 were to release 10/31 or later, then it makes sense.

I'd rather focus on 16.1 as well but I have a feeling that this is what's about to happen

Having worked designing on magazines most of my life, and with friends who work on newspapers, so seeing and hearing behind the scenes… ha, they are both, more so newspapers, very much tools to control us, if you let them.

It’s a shame we can’t read things these days and you can take it for absolute truth, but unfortunately we live in quite a dishonest world and at the centre of that I’m afraid to say is not an iron core, but greed in one form or another.

So yeah, unless it’s from the horses mouth, you got to take everything with a very large pinch of salt and from a distance to see/get perspective for yourself.

Is just me sharing on the topic. So let’s hope for 16.0.3 for those that need it but it’s more likely from what we actually know, and that’s how close 16.1 is to being released, is it really worth Apple hitting everyone with an update now and then 2/3 weeks later another.

Although it has appeared in the web records, it is true that this does not mean that Apple is going to release 16.0.3, if this version exists of course. But if it existed, what would be the point of making a smaller version that would remain internal to the company. I don't see the point, if iOS 16.0.3 exists they have made it to launch it, not to test things because that's why they have iOS 16.1

16.1 introduces new app features not available prior, so if they're working on the usual "Performance & Bug Fixes" type stuff, they might be testing a 16.0.3 release internally and then port over said "Performance & Bug Fixes" to 16.1

Public was out Tuesday. Check the second page of the 16.1 beta 4 forum if you want confirmation.

Nope, both.
Oh. Sorry. I must have read the news article the day after. I don't typically check MacRumors in the evenings.
