Yea and the silence from Apple is concerning too, iOS 16.3 is the worst public release I’ve ever seen, I’m even getting resprings which used to only happen on my jailbroken phones.
It’s very interesting how each update differs for each user. For me, iOS 16.3 is so much better than 16.2! I’m getting better battery life and don’t run into bugs that often.

To me 16.4 not being out is an issue. I just remembered a few months ago we had a TV/homepod release for a .1 update but no IOS, I won't be surprised if they follow in the same footsteps

Except for the fact that webservers have been reporting hits from a 16.3.1 for well over a week now.

Maybe this report is true. We might be witnessing it today.

I have no doubt that this may be part of it. But if I am correct and that this is some sort of zero day problem, they’d pull resources off of the headset to get this fixed. iOS and iphone are the heart of the company and produce most of its revenue. They will want that fixed pronto.

To the contrary, the fact that there was a 16.3.1 for the HomePod and Apple TV tells us there will be one. The question is why did they release those other ones yesterday and why didn’t they (as of 1:12pm on Tuesday) release 16.3.1 for iOS and iPadOS? They almost (and perhaps more than almost) never release for those devices separately from the Phone and iPad releases.

I think this lends more credence to my “zero day” theory: they were able to get patched versions done for HomePod and Apple TV and the priority was to get them out the door as soon as they could, rather than wait for the iOS / iPadOS versions to finish QC.

My suspicion is that we should have had 16.4 a week ago. It’s a bit concerning (from a security standpoint) that we don’t have these yet.
My guess is 16.3.1 for HomePod / AppleTV was zero day patch for HomeKit issues?

possibly. But remember that they are essentially all derivatives of iOS. Perhaps they don’t have the dependencies in them that the larger OSes do and passed Quality Control faster. Given the need to patch everything urgently, Apple might have just said “ship as soon as its ready and don’t wait for the others”.

Of course, I could be completely wrong and they’re just yanking our chain!

I just want good battery life on my 14PM. I only get 6-7 hours SOT.
Only way I fixed it was to revert back to my 13 pro max 😂98% battery health and I still get 10+ hours of SOT even on 16.3. Seems like the A16 and new display engine for the dynamic island is more powerful hungry than previous phones. Also noticed my battery health on the 14 pro max dropped to 98 in 3 weeks while I’m coming up to a year on my 13 pro max and it’s at 98% after 150 charge Cycles. Something is fishy regardless

And with Jim gone who knows what will happen? Maybe the delays are because Apple is just gonna put Android 13 on the iPhone?

Apple is probably the richest company in the world, I don't think it needs to remove resources from iOS or MacOS, because at least iOS isn't doing very well to afford these luxuries. He should have hired more people, not remove resources from areas that support the company for something that is not known how it will work. They are starting to walk down the road of Facebook.
