Apple could fix this by actually giving people some info as to what the hell is going on.

This isn’t just about people addicted to the latest thing and always being on beta software. It’s about the fact that 16.3 is fundamentally broken, notifications have been broken for what 5 months now without a fix? But the worst part is the battery drain that nobody has been able to figure out, I was getting almost 2 day battery life when the 14 pro max first came out, now I have to fully charge my phone twice a day. For everyone that uses their phone for work this can be quite a pia. I paid too much money for this phone for these sort of problems.

I wonder if 16.4 will never even come out and they’ll just wait for iOS 17.

You have to fully charge your phone twice a day?

Either you are exaggerating really hard here or you have a hardware problem..... I don't think you should be waiting for an iOS release, I think you should be taking your phone to an Apple store for a diagnostics check on the battery...... however I do think you are exaggerating to get your point across....

We all have it, at least in web view on a Mac or iPad.

See below. (note: I have not blocked my friend Kylo, which is why it says “Ignore”. If I muted him, it would say “unignore”)

I don't understand how weak minded and sensitive of an individual one has to be to use this feature? never in my many many years of perusing online forums, has a stranger sitting behind a computer screen bothered me that much, that I would feel the need to block them or mute them...And I have read some really crazy stuff some directed at me... Either I give it right back or I ignore it and move on, or get off the screen and enjoy real life. It just seems silly to let the words of an anonymous online persona bother you so much... Maybe it's just me I guess.

I have a very high threshold for some of the utter nonsense and rubbish posted here. I tolerate much of it because I value the contributions of most of the members here. That some have exceeded that threshold says more about them than it does me. The tool is there so I use it, sparingly but decisively.

I don’t appreciate being called “weak-minded” for using a tool provided by the forum to make my browsing experience how I want it. So let’s say “it’s you” and you may mind your own business going forward. How’s that?

Buddy, I use that button!

It’s been created for a reason… probably because people talk a lot of BS, so it helps to clear up your feed for a better experience.

P.S I’m certainly not weak minded!
But can start to understand why people might aim some crazy things at you on forums with flippant comments like that.

And I appreciate your input and opinion... Even folks like you who like to complain about every little thing and seem to fly off the handle over the smallest and silliest things posted online by strangers... Even with your "get off my lawn" vibes I would not mute you. I do exactly as you say just keep it moving and mind my business... Thanks for the sage advise but totally not necessary.

It's just an opinion, Please don't block me lol. I've been on forums for many years and 99.999% of my interactions have been very light and positive. the crazy comments have been very few and far between, I'm sure everyone gets them if you have been on one long enough.

So I "complain about every little thing," eh? No, I complain about the rampant entitlement exhibited here by many.

This is a speculation thread, not a whining thread. Many (especially many newer members) active in this thread want to whine about how mean Apple is because Apple hasn't updated its software on the poster's preferred schedule. Or that the beta software they are using has some (usually trivially insignificant) bugs.

Go ahead and post like this if you must, but do it elsewhere. This thread - as were its predecessors for other iOS major releases - is designed to do two things: Keep speculation about new beta releases out of the beta discussion threads and provide a forum for predicting when a beta will arrive and what it might look like. I know what the original idea is because I created the concept. Sure, there's a lot of latitude for fun while at it. I've never blocked @TheYayAreaLiving 🎗, who seems to love life and guessing about Apple betas. But for goodness sake, take the whining somewhere else. Cry in your pillow; yell at a barn door, whatever. Just don't do it here.

You make some fair points. I guess I don't let such things bother me as much on the internet. but everyone is different...

I think we should cut this line of discussion off here otherwise we are being just as bad as those you described and derailing the thread (and yes I know i started it with my comment lol). No hard feelings. Lets get back to speculating!

Good morning!

I'm afraid to say anything today much less speculate.

Can we all just be happy and cross our fingers today, please? What's going to happen today? Are we up to a surprise?.

If we don't get this beta today we all deserve a glass of 🍷 red wine not whine. Let's go win! Let's secure the iOS Beta bag. 🥖👜

I'm going to speculate that there is a 55% chance of 16.4b1. The percentage is a number I pulled from you know where, but meaning that I think that there's a better than even chance that we get it today now that all the other stuff is out of the way (16.3.1 security fix and the likely Apple leaked story that the headset will not get demoed until WWDC). I suspect that those things all had to occur before they could release 16.4

I’ve noticed that video apps seem to be randomly breaking for the last few months.

I’ll first notice it when trying to load up a YouTube video - I’ll get a “something went wrong” message, and not a single video will load or play.

Then I’ll go to other video streaming apps to see what they will do… HBO max, Amazon Prime… you name it, they similarly can’t load videos.

So I can’t say it’s an issue with the individual apps. It has to be some kind of low level iOS thing related to online video playback that randomly gets bugged up.

Updating the apps doesn’t work, the only “fix” is to completely restart the device. At which point all the video apps work normally again. For a couple of weeks anyway… then randomly it will just happen to give me that “something went wrong” message again, and the cycle continues.

Last night this happened, and I woke up this morning to my phone bootlooping. Very frustrating! At this point I probably would install a 16.4 beta.

Sound direction as always. Just think a fresh new week is on the cards for 16.4 'bl00dy taking forever' beta 1.

Hoping, of course, it drops today!

Better be good. 🤞🏼

The only reason I put it at slightly higher than even money is because I suspect they are now behind their own schedule for this point release. Otherwise, I'd say next Tuesday. And I will not be the least bit surprised if it is next week.

My phone is on almost constantly from 7am to midnight pretty much every week day so no I’m not exaggerating. I don’t let it go fully dead before I charge it up again of course, but I charge it overnight, and then in the afternoon I’ve been having to charge it a second time.

On like screen on time for 15 hours of the day?

Even though I thought Home app rewrite wasn't the caused delay earlier, now reading this week old article seems to point how this can really mess up the entire beta release.

"Soon" seems to be around the corner. MacRumors claims to have confirmed that the Home architecture upgrade will return in iOS 16.4, a beta of which could arrive as early as this week.

Interestingly, part of the evidence, which MacRumors credits to Nicolás Álvarez, comes from the open GitHub code base of "Project CHIP," i.e., the Matter smart home standard. Deep into the branch labeled "darwin" (the Unix core of iOS, MacOS, and other Apple systems), there is an "availability.yaml" file that seemingly sets which versions of the OS are required for accessing some part of Matter interoperability. Commits two weeks ago by "bzbarsky-apple" appeared to set iOS 16.4 as the version required for access to a number of APIs, along with macOS 13.3, tvOS 16.4, and watchOS 9.4.

This implies that all the involves OS's must be all updated together to the latest beta versions when released for it to work. Yes iOS/IpadOS/tvOS/MacOS/watchOS all.
