I made the mistake of switching off the developer betas and that option disappeared, lol
Weird, that’s good to know. I jumped on the iOS 16.4 betas without a profile at all. I just had the option available to me in Software Updates. I think it’s safe to assume that when the iOS 17 betas come out in a couple months, you’d need a Dev Account associated with your signed in Apple ID in order to validate, or even be offered, beta updates. I’m curious how the Public Program will work, same way? Associated with the logged in ID?

I'm downgrading to an earlier 16.4 beta just so I can switch developer updates back on. Go ahead, call me sad, pathetic. I already know that :D

Edit: Disclaimer to anyone else that wants to do this, there are risks including losing your data and potentially bricking your phone. Make sure you know what you're doing.

Me too. I think now the only method would be IPSW install, right?
But from where can i download it?
The dev option disappeared for me as well. I have reinstalled the profile and even though I only have the public beta option, 16.5 showed up and I am installing it right now.

PSA: Don't downgrade to iOS 16.4 beta 4 to try to re-enroll in developer betas. It'll ask you if you want to re-enroll, and if you say yes, it says "re-enroll failed"

And it doesn't work with the first beta either, so don't even try.

As someone who’s used Logic Pro before “without paying” and then later paid for it, it’s ok!

But yes, from a technical standpoint, there’s obviously more risks now if there’s not going to be a Beta Profile at all…

Wasn't expecting this but Happy iOS 16.5 Beta 1 day! Woo hoo!
It's nice to be o track again. We get to see when notes becomes available what they are directing their efforts against on a new beta cycle. With all the security patching between iOS 16.3 and start of iOS 16.4 that delayed a month. Now you know this beta cycle is trying to continue refining of issues or delayed features on a regular schedule for iOS 16.5.

The WWDC announcement will happen eventually, but we know they already have likely dates selected so more of a fund discussion then too much going on all at once. :)

Home

New Features

  • A Shared Admin in a Home is now able to pair/add Matter Accessories. (106449382)

Known Issues

  • When a manual software update is attempted on a Matter accessory with an available update, Home might not indicate that the update has been requested and continue to indicate an update is available. (104902918)
Workaround: Check the Software Update pane in Home Settings at a later time, as the update might be taking place in the background.
  • Shared Admin pairing will fail if Home hubs are running pre-tvOS 16.5 beta software. (105204882)
Workaround: Update tvOS devices to tvOS 16.5 beta.
  • Software updates for Matter accessories might be offered again even though the update already completed successfully. (106768113)
Workaround: Restart your HomePod and Apple TV devices.
  • Pairing will fail if Shared Admin tries to perform the first pairing of a Matter accessory in a Home. (107073942)
Workaround: Let the Home owner perform the first Matter accessory pairing and subsequent pairings from Shared Admin will work.

As you can see iOS 16.5 beta 1 is more like iOS 16.3 with emphasis on remediating some issues/bugs.

MacOS 13.5 beta 1 is the same. (emphasis on remediating some issues/bugs.)
