I was running 16.5 beta 1 on two iPhones without any real problems, this beta 2 would be about the same. 16.5 beta cycle is fix/clean up mostly. iPadOS 16.5 beta 1 worked fine for all I used it for.

Didn't say that. I just told you how beta 1 was no issues, and implied beta 2 would be the same.
Battery life is fine. I already have beta 2 installed on a iPhone successfully.
All you can do is see what people post in the related threads, if you don't see an obvious cry fest, chances are most have no issues. Also remember people still use iOS 16.4/iOS 16.5 beta with iPhones from this hardware list.

Or maybe they meant the iOS 17 public beta will come out soon after the dev beta unlike last years when you had to wait a month??
as I mentoned on a related post. If you have 2 more betas (3/4) after 16.5 beta 2 , a RC and the release the following week on May 8th.
The wait to June 6th is something apart from iOS 16.5, as 16.6 makes sense.

Well said! Can't wait for the new excitement to come. I really hope Apple will blow us away. iOS needs major love!considering after 16.5 wraps up early May, it looks like we we might have maybe two more clean up beta cycles before 16.7? next late September/October 2023 yields the end of that and definitely deliver of what a lot of us are wondering is the future of iOS/iPadOS given the EU mods pertaining to App Store sales. Yes hearing we will return to making iOS better than simply new features is something we been wanting for some time. Who cant be excited for what WWDC 2023 OS progression brings. At the very least finally updated Apple TV app updated for iOS, iPadOS, tvOS, and MacOS. Yes more excitement this year for sure.

In iOS 14 and iOS 15, it has always released the version it had in beta about two weeks before the event. That is to say, that iOS 16.5 should come out in the week of May 15, that Monday or Tuesday, the 15th or 16th, to start the iOS 16.6 betas this week or the following week at the latest, a beta process that other years have been It overlapped with the beginning of the new version of iOS, and that has lasted until mid-July, which will be when they launch iOS 16.6 to stop now and focus completely during August on the iOS 17 betas.
We should have iOS 16.7 in September when they release iOS 17 like previous years, for people who don't want to upgrade to iOS 17, but that version doesn't usually have betas.
It’s just reasonable assumptions given the lack of some basis to delay it past that date. Somehow I keep envisioning a bill counter in Vegas running constantly doing this for the many that just want Apple to continue with fixes until iOS 17 makes life more challeging. Oh yes you are right. I forgot about the seats. I know someone here in Atlanta that got one of the first Model X’s. They tried to deliver it without the top glass that makes up the roof and the windshield. He of course said no. They could not understand why he didn’t want to drive the interstate going into downtown Atlanta without a roof or a windshield.
