Looking like this might be a possibility, considering today’s PB release, no?
What if Apple is releasing dev build on Friday then public beta's on a Monday?
The 4 day work week before the WWDC could happen as suggested on 30th thru 1st, allowing the 2nd to be the last day for PB beta 2. It would be just shy of 2 weeks interval for June 1st to devs. Either way you want it out before WWDC so that they can monopolize everything.

15 Days Left Till WWDC 2023. So stoked!!! We will be up for a surprise.
Zollo is saying another update is imminent because of the stupid camera adapter that won't connect. To me I didn't think this is a big of enough deal to push another update so soon.
You’d have them update for some minor visual glitch on the screen but for an important peripheral that people need for their work as professional photographers*, it’s “Nah, don’t fix that. Let them rot until the next beta”.
Great sense of priorities there.
*Yes. Of course I know that someone who relies on their device to make a living shouldn’t be using a beta.

We were all so relieved that 16.5 finally got out the door, that when 16.6b1 arrived Monday we decided to siesta as the weather is nice.
Tuesday to Thursday permits PB on Friday is the goal
Agree. And I am leaning towards Tuesday with a public beta on Wednesday, or at the latest Thursday. By the end of next week, all eyes will be on the WWDC presentations and workshops. I don’t think they want to be monkeying around with betas at the end of the week.

Apple's favorite Beta Day is Tuesday so I think we're going to get a new Beta on Tuesday. However, Memorial Day in the USA is on Monday. Hmm 😖
I was thinking about some might offset which days they take off, but its got to be hard with WWDC on the following Monday, its like the Apple management wants next week and the following week to be perfect as far as development support.

Interestingly MR has been the only place I’ve seen reference to needing to be connected to a MagSafe charger. If this is correct then in theory it might open this feature up to more than always on devices as many assume. More importantly, with updated MagSafe chargers it *might* be possible to have a different smart screens by location if the phone can tell on charger from another. That would be extremely useful

I asked the mods to pin the iOS 17 Speculation thread and they agreed. That should be where any ideas or speculation about iOS 17 features, release dates, etc.. should go. And on June 5th around 3pm ET, that thread will become the iOS 17 version of this thread.
