Its not illegal dont worry, but as others said google it - there may or might not be more information offered there. ;) I myself have used google previously in such a manner and had a good experience.
It actually technically is illegal. You need to pay to get the profile. If you download it through other means, it's stealing, some could argue piracy even.

I didn’t mean any illegal way, I thought there was a standard way to obtain it… but I’ll respect the rules.
Years ago I paid to be a “developer” to get the betas. My account has long expired but I continue to have access to the betas. Your mileage may vary but for me it ended up being a one time investment (I am not a developer).

I can swear that I read somewhere that there´s a way to get the developer profile without charge... am I tripping or is that so? Already a public tester, but would really want it a day ahead the PB...
Only way to get the developer profile is to pay the developer fee OR have a paid developer give you the profile (to do testing for them on their app presumably)

I will say this, there are websites out there that are pretty well known that host the profiles. I'd be shocked if Apple didn't know about them, and they turn a blind eye for the most part.

But it's still against their policy and probably illegal.

How do you still have access to developer betas from an expired developer account?

I got an update on my 13 mini that just says iOS 16.0 for 1.67GB.

Nevermind, I refreshed and now it shows beta 4. Happy downloading folks.

I believe this was a functional change done by Apple actually. You are still required to pay to create/upload apps and use the analytical tools. But the profiles are no longer behind the pay wall. I think this changed around the time of iOS 15 being in dev.
I see - didn't realise they had changed that!
