iOS 16 Wishlist: Features MacRumors Readers Want to See in the Next Version of iOS

  • An option to DISABLE ALL AUTOPLAY.
  • Return of 3rd party browser engines.
  • The ability to install / uninstall whatever I want.
  • Manual prioritization of network connections.
  • Configuration without an AppleID.
  • A real file manager.
 
One of the few things that I miss from using an android is that if you have rotation lock on and rotate your phone, a little button will appear in the corner that will rotate the screen when touched, so you don’t need to keep toggling the option in control center.

a better keyboard with a number row and not having to jump screens for , and .

Imessage to sync across all devices so I don't have to delete the same Text on every apple device.. Seriously how is this still a thing?

multi audio input so when a ad or a video plays it doesn't shut off everything else to play just play both sources at the same time.
 
My wish list also remains as before:

1 - iPad Calculator app
2 - Update to mail - nothing fancy, just colour coding per account (even the unread blue dot would be more than sufficient)
4 - Better month view on the calendar app on iPhone - again colour coded dots based on the calendar (Fantastical and others can do this so don't see why Apple cannot)
5 - The return of RSS feeds to News app OR a standalone RSS reader
6 - Customized haptic feedback / wrist tap for notifications per app on the Apple Watch - failing that, different vibrations for Apple Mail and Text message

Just as the majority of iOS users I often have to switch between my native language and English. If I forget and just start typing the keyboard will really work against me.

I regularly visit English pages and have English speaking colleagues.

Now if iOS would remember that message threads between me and English John should be kept in English and automatically switch to English when I text him and then switch back to Danish when I text my wife.

It could do the same for webpages: if it’s a .com switch to English. If it’s .dk switch to Danish.

I known it’s only a single button press, but still I forget and since we’re just dreaming about infinite programming resources at Apple there’s no reason it couldn’t be done automatically

And imagine when you use several keyboards. I use occasionally up to 8. But your example is not right. Messages are able to keep track of language used in convo but other apps rarely, even Apple's Notes app can not. So I know issue of constantly typing with wrong keyboard better then majority. I reported it to Apple many times to make it standard behavior or requirement but ....

And bro, it is not single button press if you have 3+ keyboards. It usually ends up switching to next instead of last used and so on.

Those basic usability refiments should be priority not new and new features 10% use.

I don’t know about you but I normally keep my phone on rotation lock because it’s so annoying when it rotates but there’s frequent times when I want to watch a video landscape mode, there is no option to force a video into landscape mode while the lock is on, it would be nice to have a rotation button when watching a video full screen.

Wish a text notification was more prominent on my Apple Watch, have everything cranked up to max yet still miss them.
