I also wish they would bring back the option to dismiss a notification right when it comes up. (there used to be an "x" that a few years ago disappeared.) now you have to dismiss the notification when it comes and again from the Notification Center.)
Came back to the iOS after being on Android for several years and I'm really baffled by this. Seems like clear UX fail.

Also I hate how just holding the finger on the lockscreen brings up possibility to create or switch lockscreen design. Why? I activate this quite often by mistake.

Just a bunch of little, intermittant issues on my iPhone since iOS 17. Most noticeable is when I go to Voicemail in the phone app, it shows "No Voicemail" for about 5 seconds then populates. Never had that before. That and bunch of little, mostly unreproducible oddities since iOS17.

I really hope they fix Notes. The Find In Note function is glitchy and unusable most of the time. And sometimes scrolling is jaggy and not smooth. I mean they hype up the power of the A17 Pro chip and it can’t even scroll smoothly through a text document?? Also I want my purchased text tones to be available under Text Tones, not just under Ringtones. Both of these bugs should never have existed in the first place.

It’s pretty frustrating that when you buy the new iPhone on release it comes with a .0 operating system that’s full of bugs. They should release the new version of iOS a couple months before the new phones come out or find some other way to make it so that the customers aren’t basically beta testers.

About time!

I finally got my 15 Pro Max over the weekend and since I had installed the 17.1 RC on my 11, I had to set it up as a new device, log it into iCloud to enable the beta update, install the beta update, restore as a new device again, THEN restore my iCloud backup, to get things working.

The extra work was worth it though, I think; I got to experience my first couple days of using my new 15 Pro Max without 17.0.x bugs.

When I saw the keynote in June I was looking forward to the journal app. Imagine the look on my face if you told me it would be heading towards the end of the year and we still don’t have it or even a hint of it in a update

When a HomePod is used as an Apple TV speaker, Enhance Dialogue cuts down on background noise and music when there's speaking so you can better hear what's being said.

The interesting thing here precisely it´s that it does not seem to be doing that. It does not lower background music or sounds effects, nor does it compress the entire range and soundstage like "reduce loud sounds" does. It analyzes the audio mix in real time, find the spoken word, bring it forward to the virtual center channel that the Homepods create, and then amplifies it.

But something else seems to be going on here. Is like a volume cap has been lifted and it´s no longer there. The Homepods are now MUCH louder and clearer in general with the Apple TV with this setting turned on, and thus have much more headroom now for content mixed at a low volume.

Game changer feature, indeed.

I liked how before you could hold on a notification and swipe down to delete it… now it animates and goes to the same place 💀

They won’t even fix the Search option not to search within specified apps that they broke in a 16.X release.

Wonder if this is going to fix the battery issues, getting poor performance on iPhone 14 Pro and Apple Watch 8
Especially on my Watch 8. Battery life is horrible compared to the last OS version. I used to only charge before bed and then it'd last all day.

With OS 10, I have to charge it at least twice during the day and sometimes that doesn't even last for bed. Very bad update, wish I didn't upgrade. Especially if 10.1 does not fix things back to how they were.

And yes, I've disabled just about everything now on the watch to try and get more battery out of it. No complications, zero widgets, not even weather. Nothing. No background apps. Becoming my most-pointless-device now.

If you are thinking of buying an Apple Watch. I would not. I would instead wait out a month or two or see if this upcoming 10.1 update fixes this battery issue. Otherwise I doubt you're going to have a good experience and will get annoyed with the amount of charging required to use it. My opinion only obviously.

Buying a phone with a 0. release is the questionable thing ever. Everybody should wait for X.2 or .3 release for the best experience. Buy later and don’t complain

Anyone else think that the way the person in the article image is holding the phone looks strange and almost painful?

I just tried it out and it feels odd 😅

You do realize with this logic that would mean the issues wouldn't come to light until .3 then you would wait until .6 for a patch?

The .0 release had testers since July. Bugs are always going to pop up when something hits the masses.
