To clarify for those wondering: the custom ringtone change has been rolled back in 17.1 RC2. You can now assign custom ringtones to most system sounds, just like in iOS 16 and before.

Ventura is in security update only mode.
*sob* Well...maybe eventually I'll use that software (forgot the name) that will allow my Mac laptop to run Sonoma. I don't want to just yet try it out since mostly Ventura does solve my needs and I don't want to faff around with any issues that may result from running unsupported macOS; just not into that kind of tinkering.

I also wish they would bring back the option to dismiss a notification right when it comes up. (there used to be an "x" that a few years ago disappeared.) now you have to dismiss the notification when it comes and again from the Notification Center.)
I complained about this two years ago when they "broke" it in iOS 15, and everybody shot me down about it. It's still one of the most frustrating regressions in iOS since I first got an iPhone.

You do realize with this logic that would mean the issues wouldn't come to light until .3 then you would wait until .6 for a patch?

The .0 release had testers since July. Bugs are always going to pop up when something hits the masses.
One important thing to remember is that the .0 release beta testers get doesn't have all the changes destined for .0 on new devices. They are different branches of the code here.

This is why a new phone can be released which has iOS bugs that were never present in the beta or even the final release for previous phones.

I hope it fixes my issues with photos not showing up in Messages. I'm missing thousands of them. 🤬
ive reset my iPhone and Mac like 50 times this week, it's so annoying when you know the attachments are there but not loading, and the Mac handles it so much better. Triggering a re-index by resetting Siri on iOS helps but then a day or two later all recovered attachments go away again into the iCloud void.

I wonder if macOS Ventura (macOS 13) would be updated to address a few minor issues, namely that with the new updated AirPods Pro firmware, one cannot select Adaptive Transparency or Conversation Awareness on the macOS because it wasn't updated to recognize those features.

I know the latest macOS is Sonoma, but my old Mac laptop cannot be updated to Sonoma; it's not supported.
This is bad … this needs an update von Ventura and Monterey

That's an extremely valid point. Complaints this year around ringtones and the perception of screen burn-in are more widespread, however, the overheating issue I believe was more on the new models and a royal pain.

Could someone detail what the changes to favoriting songs in apple music will be? Hoping it's something similar to Spotify where there is a "Favorited" playlist for anything we thumbs up. Would certainly make things easier when a good song pops up while driving and you want to remember to add it to a playlist later on..

Hope they will finally fix FaceTime switching/handoff between devices in macOS. Didn’t work properly in Ventura, not working properly in Sonoma. Very disappointing.

I'm looking forward to the MacOS release the most, because I always wait for the XX.1 version before upgrading each year, since I use my Macs for work.

I'm also looking forward to the tap gestures on my Ultra 2. I have the accessibility thing turned on but it doesn't seem as good as what this promises. There isn't as much control and it seems a little more on the finicky side.

Will it fix my "new gen" HomePods ability to stay connected to internet? (this works about 22% of the time) Will it fix how none of my HomePods (minis too), despite being set to, not using YouTube music? Will it fix my iPhone15s location wackiness with weather? Will it fix my iPhone15s standby-mode working sporadically and even when it does, it's a bit Brad Pitt in 12 Monkeys? Will it fix my iPhone15 needing to be placed into an Airplane Mode reset at least once a day to get the apps to use the internet? They just stall thinking they have it when they don't, even though they do. FUN. Frist new iPhone since 12 and it's been the most buggy ever.

If the French rumours were correct — by the 24th — there’s still a little time (about 40 minutes at the time of writing) before it’s the 24th in France!
😄🤣🙃
