iOS 17.2 addresses a bug that was preventing some iPhones from wirelessly charging on the wireless charging pads included in some vehicles, according to Apple's release notes for the iOS 17.2 RC that came out today.

There have been multiple complaints from iPhone 15 owners who have had charging issues in their Chevrolet, Cadillac, and Buick vehicles. In some of these cars, an iPhone placed on the wireless charging pad would either not charge at all or start to charge and then stop.

Most of the complaints were from iPhone 15 owners, and came after the iOS 17.1 update. General Motors said in November that it was aware of an issue and investigating the problem.

This is the second charging-related bug fix that Apple has implemented in recent weeks. The iOS 17.1.1 update that came out in early November addressed an issue that caused some iPhone 15 models charged in BMW vehicles to lose NFC functionality.

iOS 17.2 is expected to see a public release next week. The update also adds the Journal app, a Translate Action button option for iPhone 15 Pro models, new features in Messages, Weather and Clock widgets, and more.

Will this finally fix my iphone 14 pro not being to charge in my Honda Civic 2022 Touring??? I sure hope so!

I have a Ford from 2021 and no iPhone with MagSafe ever charged, starting with iPhone 12. My old iPhone 11 charges just fine. It never got fixed 😵‍💫 just keeps giving errors that the phone isn’t placed correctly (it is).

Wonder if this fixes anything, at least on my 15 Plus

Hah, I love how that car has a blu-ray player up front, and yet Apple won't even let us watch videos while parked via CarPlay.
Most likely the Blu-Ray player only plays on the rear seat entertainment screens.

I’m over here wondering what cars nowadays are shipping with Blu-ray??
Honda Odyssey for one (my wife has one and the kids watch movies in the back using it). I wouldn't have paid extra for the feature, but it came standard on the Elite trim which we wanted.

I'm pretty sure most mini-vans and 3 row SUVs that have entertainment screens tend to have DVD/Blu-Ray players that only work in the back.

Surprisingly I have yet to see an aftermarket in-dash player that supports Blu-Ray. For some reason they have all been stuck on DVD. I've been looking to upgrade the DVD player in my F350, but have been waiting for one that supports Blu-Ray and haven't had any luck.

just Curious but what car is that? I’m assuming some type of large mini van if it has a blu-ray player 🤔

There is a huge market for in-car devices to distract kids on a long drive so they don't misbehave. It's the same reason why some cars have Wi-Fi; kids can get online on their tablets and not bother you. Adults don't need that feature, we all have phones with cellular plans. It's for kids!

The wireless charging in my Ford Mach-E has never worked thanks to the gigantic camera bump that grows with each generation.

It’s really something I wish Apple would address but I fear it’s going to look like a DSLR telephoto lens before they do.

I thought the 17.1.1 was supposed to fix the charging issue. Honestly I just have stopped believing Apple anymore. They make lots of false claims now days.
17.1.1 fixed the BMW/NFC charging issues, not the wireless charging issues with other cars. Apple never said it was going to fix the issue on GM cars. 17.1 introduced the issues with GM.

Have had intermittent charging issues in Tesla Model Y with iPhone 15 since day 1. iPhone 13 worked flawlessly with the wireless pad in the car. Hoping this does the trick.

Nice. Now go and fix wired CarPlay. My iPhone 15 pro freezes 4 times out of 5 when I connect to my Mercedes.

My old iPhone 14PM and new iPhone 15PM both work flawlessly with respect to wireless charging and wireless CarPlay in my wife's Toyota Venza.

Totally pleased.
