Sorry to disappoint you, but this is the afterlife. 🤭Wait!!! Is the Earth still spinning? Will the Sun rise tomorrow? Guys, I'm scared. I was told this would essentially be the end of the world.
Right, but it’s better to be able to get Fortnite at all if you want it vs the status quo of not being able to cause apple says no.I’d say this is not true. If you want Fortnite i guarantee you’ll have to download it from an alt store: Epic Store.
I’m willing to bet other companies will want to do so also. Eventually getting apps will be very segmented.
Lots of devs would publish on the App Store if they didn’t have to pay for the luxury to do so. Blame apple for making the App Store a terrible place to be a developer on the Mac.Absolutely horrible.
The worst thing about mac is the need to remember which App you downloaded from the website. If you bought a mac and want to set it as a new machine, you have to find all of the apps to download. Where as on iOS you can just see the purchase history.
And no, it is not simply another choice for developers. A lot of developers don’t publish to the mac App Store. By supporting EU, it means you will lost the Apps you bought from App store sometime
Developers make money because of Apple’s hard work and Apple makes money because of developers’ hard work. Therefore, the fee should be 0.00 euro, just like it us for Mac software.
Who's we? Any time in my 40 years I heard something start with we it wasn't good.COMPANIES SHOULD NOT HAVE FREEDOM. HUMANS SHOULD HAVE FREEDOM.
That's the thing that absolutely infuriates me about liebertarians. They want to pretend companies are people and should have rights.
If a company tries to do something that is contrary to a human's rights, whether that be to block CarPlay or make it impossible to install ANY software of that human's choice on that human's personal iPhone, the company should be prohibited by law from doing it.
If you don't want to install an alternate OS on your car's infotainment system, nobody is forcing you to do it. If you only want to stick to Mommy Apple's app store, nobody is forcing you to not. All that we're asking is that Apple, which is a multinational corporation and NOT a person, be forced to give actual people their freedom.
as opposed to Apple locking out apps because they think the user is a toddler...? I'll take the EU, thanksI´m tired of the paternalism of the European Union, as if the user is stupid.
Signed: Citizen of the European Union
Yep... What's funny is that was predicted years ago and almost everyone here thought that was just scare tactics, and... presented a great opportunity to take a swing at Apple - cuz it's Apple/Tim Cook/buh-blah/buh-blah/buh-blah... And need to be knocked down.
And here we are today.
Well nobody said you HAD to download apps from websites….
I would be curious to know the % of people that will want to do it and even know this is an option
EU users must be happy now they can download malware directly to their iPhones.
Apparently you do not understand what choice means. 😂If I want to have a choice of that kind I would have chosen an Android. But I chose an Apple just because of it's a closed environment. EU gave apple users option nobody asked for while thing people are asking for is nobody dealing with from these "EU people" in position to make a difference.
MR commenters based in the EU are not the typical iPhone user.
That tells you everything: devs rather sell outside than inside.I've already lost that option on Mac when the app I paid for left the App Store
Will this feature be open for the UK as well?
But again, it is easier than having to setup a website to provide the downloads, have a place for people to write reviews, wire the payment and delivery. Oh and not to mention, it makes pirating easier, which eventually hurts the devs.Lots of devs would publish on the App Store if they didn’t have to pay for the luxury to do so. Blame apple for making the App Store a terrible place to be a developer on the Mac.
Governments collect taxes to build hospitals, and roads and so on… not to make a profit.workers make money because of government's hard work. and government makes money because of workers. therefore, business taxes should be 0.00 euro.
wait, what?
As a customer using iPhone, I want to use App Store exclusively. The EU laws will end it.
My whole point is the Apps existed on App store, and new apps, will not be on App store, just like macNo, you can still use App Store exclusively, if you wish.
Your preferred way will be gone after thisGood to see alternate methods to download/access the app. I would still prefer to download directly from the App store.
You can still do that.As a customer using iPhone, I want to use App Store exclusively
"I'd rather push some talented devs away from the iOS platform than have them develop an app I refuse to use because they don't publish it on the App Store" ???My whole point is the Apps existed on App store, and new apps, will not be on App store, just like mac
