I’ve always wondered how many people use a voice other than the default for their country/language?

To me Siri has a distinctive voice and I could never imagine changing to another.
I'm English and live in the US, mine is currently set to British (Voice 1). My old boss, an American, had his set to the Aussie voice and would then imitate it all day in the office. 🫠

Found that certain words were not pronounced correctly or even completely under the British voices.
Over the years I settled on Indian voice 2 as the most articulate.

Would be interested to know which words you're referring to; the only ones I've encountered are place names or people names.

Voice 4 is called 'Multicultural London English' or MLE, and has displaced Cockney as the default accent in inner London, see this amazing video "A Tour of the Accents of England" where the chap does stunningly accurate impressions of each English region.

Ideally, there would be a voice for at least each part of the UK (e.g. Wales), but better still for each regional accent, complete with dialect options.

Similarly, for people elsewhere on Earth with their own distinct vocal patterns.

I'm the only person I know who uses a male voice for Siri. Which is awesome because I never have to worry if mine got randomly activated or someone else's.

I use Australian male because I like his voice the most, and I’m not Aussie myself

Love voices that sound a bit street (in real life, not just for my AIs), so this is great news! I switched to the USA Voice 3 to get my fix, but happy to come back to my home country for some London accent hotness. 😍

I’m less bothered by Siri’s range of accents than I am by the fact that he/she/they are still unable to understand the simplest of queries. ‘Hey Siri - show me directions to Sainsbury’s in Whitechapel’ ‘You want directions to Tesco in Milton Keynes, is that correct?’

I'm in the US. In the past if I used a British voice for Siri (I love a British female voice - are you listening Haley Atwell!), the voicemail transcription would not work. I have to use an American voice to get the voicemail transcription to work.

Does anyone know if that has changed? Thanks.

I’m in the UK and I have my Siri language set to UK but the voice I have set to American voice 3.
