What does "only in the EU mean"? Does the user physically have to be in the EU? Does it have to be an iPhone that is sold in the EU? Does it have to be activated the first time in the EU? How would Apple enforce those restrictions?
It's a rumor that side loading will only be available for EU region instead of world wide. Of course how Apple gets around this whole requirement is still not known also. It's based on what we think will happen. What does "only in the EU mean"? Does the user physically have to be in the EU? Does it have to be an iPhone that is sold in the EU? The same way they already do with alternate payments and other appstore related features that are required in certain markets. What does "only in the EU mean"? Came here to say this. I'd hardly classify September as "soon".i
PhoneOS 17 ComingSoonfor iPhones
It doesn't actually come until September. So it's not soon.
Tech news so often say a company "launches" or "releases" or "drops" when it should say that the company "announces" something that would not be released to the general public until months or even years away.
The rumors all year long have been that it will be a Leopard to Snow Leopard type of release that is more bug fixes and stability than new features. Are that it, the supposed "headline" features are these? Erm, yawn. Very very yawn.
This sounds like some random things coming to a future .3 update. And now that we can download Apple apps from the AppStore, why can’t they release updates at any time that way? Why can they only update an app through a major new iOS release once a year???
Well, it's not going to be that hard because they have already been doing it. Even the app stores and various aspects of iOS are different in different countries. Even if some people make the effort to get around it, they will be a negligible percentage. What does "only in the EU mean"? Does the user physically have to be in the EU? Not rare to find an American blaming EU for forcing Apple to open up and use universal USB-C connector here on MR. Hope they are a minority.Really? Sideloading only for EU? How very apple.
Companies like BMW already offer convenient car upgrade plans. You’ll be able to always drive the car with the latest CarPlay release.unfortunately the new CarPlay will also require a new car ...oh well, I'll continue enjoying current CarPlay in my 7 month old Bolt EUV![]()
Noted. Thanks for the warning. 👍 🤣The first iOS 17 beta should be made available to members of Apple's Developer Program moments after the keynote, while a public beta will likely be available in July for members of Apple's Beta Software Program. As usual, the update should bewidely released in Septemberextremely buggy like iOS 16 and is not recommended for daily use...
When they renamed iOS for iPad to iPadOS, along with releasing M1 iPad Pro, some people, including me thought something big is going to happen. Now we know iPadOS is going nowhere. In fact, it takes several months for iPadOS to get the features newly announced iOS got. There's no such thing as iPhoneOS. It's iOS for iPhones, iPadOS is for iPad, macOS is for Macs.
I think it would depend on if your iCloud account is EU based, but I might be wrong. What does "only in the EU mean"? Does the user physically have to be in the EU? Does it have to be an iPhone that is sold in the EU? Does it have to be activated the first time in the EU? How would Apple enforce those restrictions?
Well, the developer beta will be released soon, which I assume is what they meant.MacRumors, this is disingenuous (and a bit clickbait-ey) – iOS 17 is not coming soon for iPhone, really.
Its introduction is very likely soon, but that's different to it becoming available to "the rest of us" as the latest OS (a beta programme doesn't count). September isn't soon.
easy theirs a clear difference in hardware sold in europe, theirs also the european app store and the persons address, could also use the network a lot of the networks in america don't exist outside the USA.What does "only in the EU mean"?
