I'll be surprised if CarPlay ever roles out to the extent they showed they showed last year! It seemed like all just conceptual mockups.

Doubt it. I am sure having an AppleID from that region will be enough. That’s how I got the extra end to end encryption from iCloud early in Europe, with my U.S. Apple ID
European Union is an economic and political union of 27 countries. In other words this feature might only be avail in Europe not in the US. I hope not
hope sideloading is absolutely nerfed and completely unusable just to screw with EU and the sideloading minority
Who does it ruin anything for? If you don’t want it, don’t enable it. Folks like you are acting like you would be forced to sideload. Millions of Android users with the option to side load never have sideloaded and never will.

I just want Apple CarPlay to be able to show the outside temperature using the vehichle's thermometer. It's stupid that I have to exit CarPlay to see what the temperature is.
Then Apple will be fined by at least 10% or their annual turnover, or 20% repetitive.
I hope they try to bork it, i will laugh my ass off once they get fined.

Do you technically need a carrier for an iPhone? Can't it be activated via Wifi? That Wifi could use a European VPN.
I noticed that you can even get an Apple ID on a Windows PC. There is is very easy to pretend that you are in Europe.

It‘s already defined they are not allowed to do this, you probably didn’t read the DMA.
That just means the UX designer behind your car sucks. Both of our cars, including my 2023 Mazda, display that in the speedo/tach gauges area.
I miss the feeling of excitement that came from major IOS updates. So much excitement then happiness when the feature you'd been desperately wanting since you got the phone was included.

Please finally allow your customers to place icons anywhere on the screen. For crying out loud were in 2023 and were still not allowed to do this since 2007.
I’d be happy was just 3 things—more default app options (calendar, maps and tasks/reminders to start would be great), ability to place items freely anywhere on a home screen, and interactive widgets. The rest would just be a nice bonus.
Unlocked phones are region independent, but an EU-carrier requirement makes the most sense.
iPad doesn’t require a carrier though. I am sure it will simply check what region your appleid is from
