Sad to see that the iPhone X got killed after only 5 years.

I know what you mean, but I think people really should take major updates less seriously. With Apple providing security updates for devices as old as iPhone 6S, I think your X is good for at least another couple years.

You’re just not getting new features, so will have to dictate your phone numbers to new friends - not a big deal!

I don’t think anyone’s getting any ‘new’ features really. Most boring update ever.

Surely the Bionic Neural Engine in the A12 is good enough for Journalling and god-damn stickers.
Jesus knows there was sod all else in that presentation.
Super underwhelming. I didn't even see a new wallpaper.

Security. It's not safe to run outdated vulnerable iOS version.
They still receive security updates...

Using iOS 15 as an example (these were released the same time when iOS 16 had updates):

iOS 15.7.1 - 27 Oct 2022
iOS 15.7.2 - 13 Dec 2022
iOS 15.7.3 - 23 Jan 2023
iOS 15.7.4 - 27 Mar 2023
iOS 15.7.5 - 10 Apr 2023
iOS 15.7.6 - 18 May 2023

I agree. NameDrop looks like a cool feature - but it’s not a deal-breaker in any way. It’s not like it takes an enormous effort to dictate your phone number or something. Phone Cards (or whatever they called them - customizable phone screens) look nice but have no practical use whatsoever, same goes for live stickers. Voice Mail to Text maybe can be useful in some situations, but usually when you’re on an important meeting you don’t have opportunity to look at your phone to read your voice mail.

That said, I’m not sure what I personally would want to see there. Maybe we have reached the pinnacle of smartphone UI and there are no further improvements to be made 😁

This is bad move. As an App Developers we see a lot of people still using iPhone X and 8. iPhone 6s was minimum target for iOS 13, 14 and 15. Hence it was easy to make iOS 15 minimum target. How greedy can you be. iPhone X was a legendary phone, good bay old friend.

I am sure people will complain but I distinctively recall people being pleasantly surprised that the 8 and 8+ were still supported last year.

And yeah they will have to bring security updates to iOS 15 and 16 when 17 is released. They actually recently released firmware patches for iPhone 6s and 7 in iOS 15.7.6. But from app developer perspective it's a bad move.
