They went through a whole section of the IOS keynote about the keyboard and I got excited thought we were going to get a update but its still the same lame ass keyboard with no number row and still have to waste taps to get . and , why is this so hard to implement like Gboard. I just don't get how something so simple still is not updated.

I am sure people will complain but I distinctively recall people being pleasantly surprised that the 8 and 8+ were still supported last year.
I'd say it was more surprising that they dropped the 6S and 7 at the same time.

Did you still have to download a profile from the dev site first? Or did it just show up on your device? I’m still seeing the maintenance part on my device so I am stuck waiting.

UPDATE: Never mind, it JUST showed up on my device.
No... no need for profiles if you're already a registered Dev.

What a real snoozefest of an update. I guess with all of the bugs they have (and still have in IOS16, they had to tone it back so they could patch it up.

I don’t mind if I can’t have the latest OS on my 5 year old phone X BUT I will be very unhappy if security patches stop before 7 years 😥
I would be even more unhappy if I cant use Apple Wallet for things like reviewing statements and paying for the cc

I agree. NameDrop looks like a cool feature - but it’s not a deal-breaker in any way. It’s not like it takes an enormous effort to dictate your phone number or something. Phone Cards (or whatever they called them - customizable phone screens) look nice but have no practical use whatsoever, same goes for live stickers. Voice Mail to Text maybe can be useful in some situations, but usually when you’re on an important meeting you don’t have opportunity to look at your phone to read your voice mail.

That said, I’m not sure what I personally would want to see there. Maybe we have reached the pinnacle of smartphone UI and there are no further improvements to be made 😁
That's because nowadays the OS is mature and there isn't much to add that's a must every year. Now it'll just be convenience

Bye iPhone X.
Yup ... this engineering classic forerunner is now a collectors item - just like the OG iPhone.
Well I was planning on upgrading my iPhone X to the iPhone 15 Pro. This seals the deal.
Yuppers - but keep the X for nostalgia and collectors item stash.
As soon as I saw so many machine learning features I knew the A12 would be the cut for devices, the minimum requirement.

RIP iPhone 8 and X.
Yup ... the 8 was nice, somehow the SE 2020 made it through. Eeek.

12 & 13 mini's will be spring chickens doing just fine :D

Yes, to be fair, the iPhone 8 has been an exceptional device. Only 5 updates and not the best battery life, but rock solid performance until the last moment.

Now my only hope is that Assistive Access arrives to iPhone 8 because it will make it a great device for an older person.

Not being able to update my X means I can’t update my new watch to WatchOS 10. That sucks big time.
