I’m the same way. iOS 15 will receive app updates for a while since they cut off so many devices with iOS 16. Look at what happened with iOS 12, Apple occasionally still releases an update and many apps still support it. As long as you’ve downloaded the app in the past, or on a newer device, you’ll have access to it from “Purchased Apps” on older iOS.

Depending how many iPhone 8 and iPhone X are still in the wild, iOS 16 could be supported with updates for a while as well.
It’s cool to see someone in the same boat. 🙂

To take your point even further — even when app developers stop providing updates for an app, often times the outdated version of the app still works and is allowed to communicate with the content servers on the other end. So there’s no telling how long iOS 15 will still be viable. Hoping for a good while still!

edit - To give some sort of idea of where app developers are at right now in terms of OS support, you can go to the App Store and search for any app and go down to the Compatibility section on that app’s store page. I don’t have Facebook on my phone but as an example — they are still supporting back to iOS 13.4. Wow! On the other hand, my credit card issuer’s app says iOS 15.0 or later… uh oh, down to the wire!

Yes, I think many banking apps now require iOS 15 minimum. The banking industry requires PCI Security Standards compliance so I'm sure this is the reason why. I don't do banking from my phone so it's a non-issue for me.

Since Apple Pay still works with iOS 12, they must be under another set of regulations. According to Apple, 12.5.7 is "up to date." :D

Standby mode ‘always on display’ only works for iPhone 14 pro or 15 pro—it needs the always on display capability. The camera isn’t activated for that feature at all, and iOS has an indicator in case it is or was recently being used.

Are you taking more generally about people’s willingness to put cameras and microphones in their private spaces with Apple, Amazon, or Google home devices? I agree that we’re putting a lot of faith in these companies to *not* spy on us at all times; it’s one of the reasons I choose Apple for this type of stuff, because they seem more up front about preserving privacy and sandboxing certain features to prevent malicious uses. Amazon for sure uses the camera in Echo and Ring devices that have them. But yeah, our phones can ‘hear’ us pretty well at all times these days.
No, it doesn't require always on display. That's why it only works while charging. It's working on my 13 Pro Max, but not completely. The clock seems to be stuck on West Coast time, not Chicago like I have my clock set to.

I wish they'd let you disable interactive reminder widgets. I keep on marking them done and the touch target is now super small to get in reminders from the widget without marking them complete.

This, 100%. I ended up removing my Reminders widgets because of this, and instead created shortcut widgets that just open the relevant lists. Hope Apple fixes this.

Didn’t realize people actually did this still. What do you use the jailbreak for?
Main reason is to save IG photos or videos and CarBridge so I can add apps like garage door opener to CarPlay which comes in handy when on my motorcycle.

Same. I realised I was completing tasks without even knowing - just touching the widget by accident will do it. Trying to open the app? Be extra careful.

I can’t believe there is no way to disable this. Its destroyed the widget and made it non-functional from a practical point of view. But it looks nicer in a screenshot, right? How does a 2 trillion dollar company allow software this poor through testing on its flagship product.
