I’m really liking this stand.

I find my iPhone mini's screen too small to be useful for this feature. I wish iPadOS was first.
And this is why the mini is a complete failure, may have phone in its name but get used very little as one these days as one. They are media devices these days and that's why much larger screens are the most popular.

Playing a bit of a devil's advocate as I read the comments and the announcement and why I see the iPhone as the start as too minimal, my car has a 12" navigation screen (Car Play and Android Auto) and my house has a 12" screen (mounted - runs Android) tied into everything (heat/cool/security/appliances/lights/entertainment/coms).

If in the future I want to switch my home to Apple, they have a lot to catch up on and have to make it cost/feature beneficial. This is at least a step in the right direction. Kind of.

A smart display would be smart 🐬

Also, when I am driving and Maps is not on/running it would be great to have the speed limit for the current road on the display and warnings for speed and red light camera ahead.

Let's say I have a Magsafe charger on my desk. I keep my phone in horizontal (I assume this equates to landscape) mode, plugged in, with this new display feature on. My battery is now at 100% most of the time. Wouldn't it be better for the phone to have an option to not charge the phone over 80% to keep the battery healthier?

As others said this fits best on an iPad. It could work on an iPhone too, but in a very minimalistic fashion.
Also I would like it to use the camera to detect (people) if it can turn off the (OLED) screen to prevent burn-in.

But Apple needs to do more work on more programmable Homekit functions. Options for different notifications, both sound and visuals. In iOS16 the Homekit notification sound is one and the same for all devices and sensors. It can play a burglar alarm sound on a HomePod but not on the iPhone itself. Whenever we are away and there is an incident at home, the notification is just too short and sounds exactly the same as any other notification.

Works for me. It’s a longer press than just a tap so that you don’t activate it by accident all the time.

Awkward design. So this is a 3d touch, which was killed a few years back already. And it takes a simple swipe left from the lock screen to open the camera app, which often happens accidentally, but for the bottom right icon to work one needs to long press. This design is wrong and inconsistent.

Be better if we could assign what we want there even if it is nothing.
