I am at the level where I dont really know what feature I even would like in IOS to make it better. But in control center, just be able to quickly switch between AirPods/no AirPods would be cool since it's a few steps away right now and the auto-switch feature never really works. However, improving maps, Siri (by like 1000%), improved continuity-features, etc. would be a fine update for me. It feels like the "WE NEED A RE DESIGN"-ppl only want a re-design without a real purpose.. the design is fine and you'd get used to the new design in a few weeks then ask for another re-design again for the next update.

Let's hear what people would like to see in control center!

I'm not sure what changes I'd like to see.

Maybe more clock and widget customization. I'd like more options when placing widgets. Sometimes they cover part of a picture that if placed differently I could avoid.

How about the same icons as on the Home Screen instead of the dumb white flat design representations. Tired of the micro-delays in recognition caused by that “genius” idea (and from flat, “buttonless,” ios7-esque design in general) that result in taking additional time and effort to do something, all for the sake of aesthetics/form.

iOS 17 will feature "major" changes to Control Center on the iPhone, according to a MacRumors forum member who leaked accurate details about the Dynamic Island on the iPhone 14 Pro before the device was announced last year.

iOS-17-Control-Center-Feature.jpg

In an email, the anonymous source added that iOS 17 will be focused on performance and stability improvements, suggesting that a revamped Control Center could be one of the more prominent changes coming with the software update. Apple is expected to announce iOS 17 during the WWDC 2023 keynote on June 5, and as usual, the first beta version should be made available to developers for testing later that day.

The source did not provide any specific details about changes planned for Control Center, which has looked largely the same since iOS 11 was released in 2017. The menu provides iPhone users with convenient access to controls for Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, display brightness, volume, and many other system functions. On the iPhone X and newer, Control Center can be opened by swiping down from the top-right corner of the screen.

Introduced with iOS 7, Control Center turns 10 this year. On a speculative basis, Apple could make Control Center more customizable and revamp the menu's design after six years of minimal changes, but exact changes if any remain to be seen.

While the forum member has a proven track record, this rumor has yet to be corroborated by other sources, and Apple's plans are subject to change.

Eff the changes. Make the features that are there finally reliable across the board.

Wouldnt mind a complete iOS design overhaul. Jony Ives iOS is about to become 10 years old, 10 years!

Any major OS/iOS overhaul makes zero sense. Outside of appeasing short attention spans wanting to see something shiny and new just to see something shiny and new, any major overhaul would just be an admission of how very wrong every aspect of the interface was. And how likely is that to have been the case? Not likely. Ios7’s overhaul was more about Jony Ive’s selfish ego than good, balanced interface design improvement that should be all about incrementally improving a great foundation based on decades of learning with occasional refinements, innovations, and minor refreshening.

When’s the last time you or anyone overhauled how you walk down the street, and how much of an improvement was it?

If anything, major overhauls make sense only in the invisible areas that can’t be incrementally refined easily…hardware, coding that got too inefficient, etc.

finally some graphical changes for once 😅 iOS 16 is essentially a little rebrand UI wise of ios 7 😅

Are we getting our snow leopard year, with a few features they had time for at the end, or not? Was the idea changed early so they would have more to market, or after they already were mostly done they decided they could fit in a few features?

10 years and iOS still looks the ruff same, they are so worried to change things, im so bored of the Home Screen look

Change the OS to what? Android has not changed or Google. They are all still using icons on the home screen. There are only flat icon design and skeuomorphism icon design.

Only windows has changed.

Not sure what you have in mind they change to look and feel.

What’s with those people wanting it to be swipe from the bottom?

It was ALREADY swipe from the bottom. The reason Apple moved it to the top is them ditching the home button on iPhones starting with iPhone X. Without a home button there needed to be a way the user can get to the Home Screen. So they made swiping from the bottom takes you to the home screen and moved the control center to the top right.
Yes true.

They could put control center to the left with all the widgets. That would make it easier to get to.

F*** I miss the old iOS with the home button.

When can we expect a full top down redesign of iOS? 2030? I tried out android 14 and it’s quite simply amazing. Apple needs to up its game.

Absolutely false. If you desperately need to turn these features off which absolutely should be on 100% of the time, you know where to find them. The rest of the iPhone market that doesn't even know what those buttons do are protected from accidentally turning them off permanently.
My dad is always annoyed that his phone keeps turning bluetooth back on. He knows where the switch is, he just doesn't know that he needs to use it and every time I tell him that there's a switch in settings he puts it off for one day and never does it.

Give us a scenario where you need to completely disable Wi-Fi and Bluetooth permanently from Control Centre. It's possible in Settings > Wi-Fi.

  1. Open Control Center.
  2. Press-and-Hold on Wi-Fi icon.
  3. Press-and-Hold on the second Wi-Fi icon.
  4. Tap "Wi-Fi Settings".
  5. Disable Wi-Fi.
Or do the same by accessing the Settings app directly.

Or simply toggle Airplane Mode to immediately disable all wireless connections.

What is your concern about how it currently works?
There are plenty of countries where the government actually does track its citizens to root out opposition and this kind of ”soft” toggle can get someone killed if they don’t realize it. It’s not always about you.

On the other hand, when there is trouble with the ISP, it’s annoying to find I’ve stopped receiving messages because my phone has decided to re-attach to wifi when I’ve turned it off in the control centre. It doesn’t take much, just go out of range for a bit and it reconnects.

It’s the same thing with mobile hotspot. You can’t turn it off unless you turn off wifi and BT completely.

Put a link to settings in control center!!!!!!!!!!

I don't like having to find/search for the settings app on peoples phones while trying to support them.

He doesn't need it to be off in the first place.
