Well, the “search” can’t exactly get much worse right now. Spotlight is basically non-functional in iOS 16.
So returning lists of apps, documents, photos, and settings is non-functional? I can understand that some people might want something more, but we don’t need to search for hyperbole.

Yes, that’s correct. Returning a list of garbage for a simple search is non-functional. You’ll come to realize what you’re defending once they fix this nonsense 10 years too late. Increasingly just starting to totally hate using this phone, but interoperability with Mac is superior vs. switching to Android, so digitally homeless…

The in-built functionality of iOS is universally insufferable. Multitouch itself is great, the WiFi and cellular are stable, and the ability to download apps is at least functional. Almost everything else is burdened by Apple’s God awful UX on iPhone. And then I won’t even start with what a disaster Siri is, the amount of nag screens, modals, and popups. It’s a sadistic carnival that they need to overhaul in way that pays tribute to the underlying hardware advancements.

What is garbage about returning those expected thing? What else would you want it to return? I’m curious but you have not given us any specifics.

Other than Dynamic Island, I feel like you could have written this article about IOS 16 and below. Feels like we're in the Pre-WWDC Hype stage before we are guaranteed disappointment come the keynote.

I don’t have a phone, but I am truly hoping it doesn’t come to the iPad. I sometimes watch TV shows and movies on my iPad Pro and I would find that distracting. But if the next iPads are going to have OLED screens, I won’t be buying them anyway, so I guess it’s a moot point. I don’t want to pay all that money and have to be worrying about possible burn in.

The reason for the dynamic island, and the notch before it, was to push the display into where the bezels were to free up display space. So far, they haven’t felt the need to squeeze into the bezel area on the iPads. We generally need some space to hold the device that doesn’t trigger touch events. I’m not sure that there is any reason to bring dynamic island to the iPad. If they do it might be a more “dynamic” software feature around notifications.
