More broken apps I see. Good thing I've switched everything to the apps Google provides. Bought a new laptop today --- ASUS Rog gaming laptop. AMD Ryzen 9 w/4060RTX graphics processor and 3k OLED display. It costs less than a Macbook Pro and the software runs better, and also, I can play all of my XBox games on it.

Hopefully more people wake up and realize Apple's developers are people that don't know how to code properly.

Only one piece left to rid of Apple entirely... A Galaxy S25 Ultra/S25+. Can't wait.

I was a big Apple fan but I can't put up with Grandma Cook's shenanigans anymore.

Don't worry, we won't miss ya. Clearly you don't need the Apple Advantage, and that's okay!

Okay, I think this is the right place to ask about this bug: everyone, can you assure me that the lack of push is only affecting the iCloud mail account? Your Outlook mail and other email accounts that support push in the iOS native Mail App are working correctly for you?

I don’t use my iCloud Mail account and I really want to update to iOS 18.3.2… will I lose push notifications for my other mail accounts added to the iOS Mail App?

If anyone is experiencing this same issue with an account other than iCloud Mail (Outlook, Fastmail, Posteo, or any other provider that supports push notifications on iOS Mail App) please share it here!

Thank you!

do be fair: the Apple Advantage is not that amazing as it used to be. Amazing Hardware, Mediocre Software, Horrible Services.
I feel just about everything about Microsoft and Windows is even worse. Its build-in apps are mediocre at best and don’t even get me started on the new Outlook and Teams, which are glorified website wrappers. Third party apps tend to look pretty bad, no two work the same or offer interoperability.

I agree Apple should totally have a greater focus on quality control, but I’d still pick macOS over Windows anytime of the week.

... Apple's iCloud does not use the Push-IMAP extension, but a variant of XMPP, according to Wiki.
... One thing that set Macs apart was their adherence to industry standard protocols, contrary to Microsoft and Google.

Yep - MacOS uses IDLE which means my IMAP accounts sync in real time with Mail on my laptop.

iOS doesn't use IDLE hence all these issues. Originally, it was commented somewhere that this is due to battery reasons, which is rubbish nowadays considering the phones have mobile network, WiFi and Bluetooth on permanently and the battery survives.

There is no sound.

Correct. Since the latest iOS and MacOS betas, Mail notifications are totally silent regardless of any settings made to the contrary. Apart from that, at least notifications seem to be working ok.

However, I don't use iCloud Mail (as I find iCloud sync is often rubbish for everything. Calendar, Notes, text shortcuts etc often don't sync at all or take hours).

This isn’t a new issue it’s just that someone from Mac forums noticed it and wrote an article. There are more posts about this on Reddit…and some of these issues are potentially related to Private Relay annd/or Mail AI/categorisation, even if you have it all disabled.

I have several email accounts: iCloud, gmail, yahoo, office 365. They were all misbehaving and I had to use Microsoft Outlook Mobile app to get my emails.

Pro tip: you can link your work/personal focus profiles to only display specific emails accounts.

The iOS 18.3.2 update that Apple released last week appears to have broken iCloud Mail for some users. There are multiple complaints on Reddit and the MacRumors forums from users who say that iCloud Mail is not able to push new iCloud emails to their iPhones after the iOS 18.3.2 update.

General-iOS-Mail-Feature.jpg

Affected users say that despite having the correct settings enabled, new iCloud emails are not showing up in their inboxes until a manual refresh. From a Reddit user:

Push is a feature that's available for some email services like iCloud Mail. It is meant to deliver incoming emails as soon as they arrive, so users see new messages right away. Other accounts use Fetch, which means that the iPhone checks the email server every so often for new emails. It appears neither Push nor Fetch is working for some iCloud Mail users, based on the complaints.

Push email from other providers like Microsoft appears to be working with no problem, so the issue is limited to iCloud Mail. Some users have also seen the same lack of Mail push with iOS 18.4. Given the number of users affected, Apple is likely aware of the issue, and hopefully a fix will be coming in the near future.

The issue is still active in iOS 18.4 beta as well

Yeah outlook won't even start on my corp PC at the moment. I have to use outlook web access.

Works fine on my iPhone 13 ProMax, but not on my 9th gen iPad. New mail will not load, even when manually fetching. In fact the most recent mail date that loads is from Sept 2023... 🤷‍♂️

Ah ha! So that’s why I didn’t get the discount codes I used hide my email to sign up for so I could then block the email once I’d used the codes

I thought I was going crazy. All of a sudden I’d have a ton of emails at once. Here’s hoping a fix comes eventually.
Same. Last week I did a manual refresh and got 120 emails. I was like wtf?? Apple software has really taken a nosedive these days.

since ios 18 i also have the same issue with my gmail accounts on the native ios mail app. no sound at all. emails arrive late or never unless i open the mail app! i dont want apple intelligence. i just want to receive emails

Apple Mail has always been trash for 3rd party accounts due to "fetch" and now their own client is broke. Apple really does have some archaic services.

Just yesterday I found someone using Apple Mail for their Office 365 and Gmail accounts. I had to inform her sadly that Apple Mail is basically useless due to a combination of purposeful siloing by Microsoft and Google, and neglect from Apple. Unless you're running your own IMAP server, you basically have to use your mail provider's app for it to work properly.

They still haven't fixed the IMAP mail issues from 18.1! I've had to switch to the ****** Outlook app to get my mail from my IMAP server. Reminds me of Microsoft's arrogance 20 years ago.
