Very minor update but expected it to be so. All new features will now be reserved for iOS 19. Looking forward to hearing more about it.

Wouldn't it be nice if the editors could actually test the BETAs (I know, but I still believe in miracles) and then list which bugs have disappeared?

Sorry, but I still want to dream of a better world.

That seems like a pretty big ask. Luckily we do have this forum where the nice people who run the beta can report their findings.

Remind me how many years of sw support they offer!

Not joking
I’m pretty sure it’s 7 years of support (security updates) and 5 Android versions.

Personally I don’t find that relevant at all, as I’d never use a phone older than 3 years.

True.

Three years is more than enough, too. The predicament I have right now ( not monetary related) is that the phone even after 1000 days is still good, man. I struggle to find a reason to upgrade but that’s another discussion 🙂

It’s all good. iOS 18 issues will be fixed with iOS 19, just like iOS 17 issues were fixed with 18…
I'll be honest with you, I think the backlog kept increasing since iOS 7.

I remember I started finding critical bugs in iOS 9 back then as a developer, now as a user on final releases I find anomalies on a daily basis.

Apple seeded the third beta of iOS 18.5 to developers today, and so far the software update includes only a few minor changes.

The changes are in the Mail and Settings apps.

In the Mail app, you can now easily turn off contact photos directly within the app, by tapping on the circle with three dots in the top-right corner.

In the Settings app, AppleCare+ coverage information is more prominent.

iOS 18.5 will likely be released to the general public in May.

still waiting to get the features promised on my iphone 16 pro max. at the moment i paid 2k for a camera button. feeling like a scam.

Bingo. Which is why the share price keeps rocketing. Markets don’t give a damn about customer experience, only customer retention.
AAPL is currently down $54/sh on a YTD basis. You must mean a different company.

There are 2 bugs here:
1. If you lock your phone and make it idle for some time (15-20 minutes) and then send message from other phone to yours via WhatsApp, Telegram, you will not receive the notification until you unlock your phone. This bug randomly appears, sometimes all works fine, but sometime I don't receive notification for a long time. It appears on iOS 18.4.1 and 18.5 DB3. Here's a thread on Apple Community with this bug: https://discussions.apple.com/thread/255799013?sortBy=newest_first&page=1
2. If you listen to a WhatsApp voice message through the overhead speaker (you need to put your phone to your ear when listening to the message), then there will be an unpleasant click when the volume is lowered to a minimum level.

Bug 1 happens here frequently. I’ve already missed important WhatsApp messages due to lack of notifications.

Fun fact: since iOS 11, the iPhone X iOS, Apple introduced the new control center in the upper right corner and a new reachability gesture; sometimes when using that gesture you simply CAN NOT open control center, only the Notification Center, unless you actually swipe down from the upper right corner. This issue is the most persistent bug I’ve ever witnessed, it literally can happen on any „Liquid Retina“ iPhone, since 2017… it’s madness

at this point, all I want to see is battery life return to normal. It’s simply not acceptable that every release cripples even the current generation devices.
What are you talking about? After the initial period of reindexing and reprocessing mail & photos with the latest models that occurs over the first week after an update, battery has been fine. Just make sure you’ve got the device plugged in, locked and connected to wifi overnight.
