I could... I started the measurement in the Blood Oxygen app on my watch, then got a notification on my iPhone to view the results. Using an S10 and iPhone 16.

Did you update both your watch and your phone?
Looking at comments here and on Reddit it appears that the blood oxygen app working on the watch after both the iPhone and watch are updated is delayed. App would say not available but waiting for a bit seems to allow the issue to resolve itself.

So you're not seeing the same "app no longer available" on your watch? I wonder what you did differently? Maybe it's taking time for the app to be updated in different locations?
One guy on Reddit mentioned he tried rebooting and letting his watch sit for a while. After that he reopened the blood oxygen app and the measurement worked, was able to see data on the phone after.

I also get the “Blood oxygen app is no longer available” message when trying to launch the app on my Ultra 2.

It never had blood oxygen activated, it is the black variant purchased last September, I haven’t tried reinstalling the app yet but other people said it didn’t do anything different.

And yes both phone and watch have been updated.

EDIT- Reinstalled app on watch, no change
Is it only supposed to take readings when sleeping?
Give it some time. People are reporting it takes 10+ minutes or longer for the app to suddenly start working then you can readings and view the in the health app.

S10 and 14Pro. I installed the update on both devices. Launched the App on the watch, it took the reading and directed me to phone to see the results. Results are in the Health app on the phone.

While not the way it was when I had my pre-ban S7, I'm satisfied.

I've had the update installed since it was released a few minutes after noon. It's now 2:15, so it's been about 2 hours.

So many threads about this over the past year and half but I think it's worth repeating.

The Masimo patents that the ITC said Apple infringed were not granted until after the Apple Watch gained blood oxygen monitoring. The reason Masimo has prior patent rights is nuanced but essentially has to do with some earlier patents that date from around 2008 but did not cover the Apple Watch. At trial all but one juror found in favor of Apple, and there was a mistrial. Apple is appealing the ITC decision so we need to see how that goes but if Masimo has anything on Apple Watch patent-wise it is paper thin IMHO.

In any event, Apple says that they got permission to do this from Customs, which enforces the ban. So it would seem that Apple is not infringing the Masimo patents with this update. Waiting to hear what Masimo has to say about all of this.

Just updated my Apple Watch 10 (GPS+Cellular) to watchOS 11.6.1, and the Blood Oxygen app is still missing from my Apple Watch. iPhone 16 Pro Max was updated to iOS 18.6.1. Does anybody else have this issue, too? Thanks!

Go into the App Store on your watch (not your phone) and search for blood oxygen and see if you can install it from there

I wonder if the ECG thing is just co-incidental. Maybe it's something about the Blood Oxygen app needing to auto-update.

I just got the notification after having sex. I thought I was having a fever dream. So out of the blue.

Good Job Apple. Series 10 owners like me are happy

Makes no sense, but it worked for me. Thanks!
Worked for me, too. I had rebooted both watch and iPhone, had deleted and reloaded Blood Oxygen app on phone, but did not work. After taking ECG, it worked.
