Would you please elaborate on the problems, cause now my 12 Pro still rocks 17.7.2. If i charge to 91% (my normal schedule, I have an automation pinging me, when charge exceeds 90% and i manually disconnect the charger), I can easily reach 2 days of battery life with my usage pattern. Since the 12 Pro was brand new in September 2023, the battery is still rated 100%. I'm torn apart between 17.7.2 and 18.6... ¯\_(シ)_/¯
I would update to 18.6 if overall experiences are positive. I know it is hard to wait, but you can wait one or two weeks and see what the general impression is, specifically among the users of the iPhone 12, and then decide.

Don't be shocked if the software update recalibrates the battery and says it is much lower now. Nearly two years and still 100% sounds like a bad reading. Unless this is a second phone for hobby stuff or some such and doesn't have a lot of cycles.
Thanks for your input, but this is already my 3rd iPhone and since i ruined the battery of the 6s by charging to 100% over night every time (to ~80% battery health after 3 years and some switch-offs due to battery weakness) and stressed the battery of the SE 2020 by wireless charging it (while still maintaining 92% battery health after 3 years though) i used the described pattern to charge to just over 90% and only using the white slow charging wall brick from the 6s (5 watts). I normally charge every two days now and so i maybe using a full charge cycle every 4-6 days. With that kind of usage - and probably a win in the battery lottery? 🤔 - i think it is possible, the health reading is still accurate.

I really don't *want* to update, but regarding iOS 26 and improved security I feel being forced to do it, before only 26 remains an option. Waiting until the waves have smoothed out after release, seems like the best option! 👍

Battery consumption during the same work is almost 2 times more than on 17.7.2. On iOS 18 I began to charge the phone more often. Overheating at the back under the power button when using the Safari browser, mainly in the evening after 22:00, the phone gets so hot that it burns your hand. I stopped using Safari, now I use the Google Chrome browser. Cellular communication began to work worse (slower speed, worse signal). Video shooting in slow-mo mode has become noticeably worse in terms of picture quality.
