No there’s no way and I don’t want to run 18.1 beta.
You mean wipe it in the system settings right?
I think I’ll wait for the RC next Monday
What I would do if I were you, listed in order of simplicity:
1) Make a full encrypted backup of your iPhone on your computer;
2) Once iOS 18.0 RC is out on 09.09, first try updating OTA. It is a big file (could be around 6GB in size, so if your internet connection is not optimal, skip straight to step 3);
3) Update (not Restore) with IPSW file via Files on your Mac;
Now test drive it during the gap between the RC and public release. If all is well, great. If it still overheats (and this might have something to do with a non-optimised app installed on your iPhone), you might consider:
4) removing your most frequently used 3rd party apps to see if this makes a difference.
5) If step 4) still does not resolve your heat issues, then go radical and restore your iPhone (wipe everything off and install the latest iOS 18 public version). Try using it as is (empty) without restoring anything from the backup yet. If it works well, start populating it with your date. If the heat is still present on your freshly wiped iPhone without anything extra installed, take it to Apple for evaluation to exclude any hardware issues.
