Right, but certain outlets had internally had indications the 9th was the date. Typically apple uses a week or 4 days to do testing ahead of a final deployment. But given the quality of software from apple since summer, this is why I suspect issues and none of our iPhone 16 PMs run very smoothly on beta 4 or before with stuttering etc. 15 PMs no issue at all.
15PM no issues? I wish. :(

we can disagree to agree but I paid a lot to have Apple Intelligence RC and with holiday season here are they going to give us refunds? I doubt it.
Apple cancelled AI all together, it took them 14 days to decide, go for the refund!😛

I would sorta understand the outrage from certain (read: “a”) member here if Beta 4 was riddled with bugs—but it’s really not.

I doubt there’s going to be much improvement or optimization between the current build, the RC, and the public release.
The RC is the final build. (Unless a major bug is uncovered)

ok I wrote a letter to Apple and sent it to every email address I could find

Dear Tim Cook, Phil Schiller, Craig Federighi, Eddy Cue, Greg Joswiak, Deirdre O’Brien, and the Apple Board of Directors,

I am writing to express my deep dis-satisfaction and frustraion with the continued delay of the iOS 18.2 Release Candidate. It is now at least a week past its expected release date, and there has been no clear comunication regarding the reasons for this delay or any indication of when the update will finally be made available. This lack of transparency and punctuality is highly concerning for users like myself, who depend on timely updates to ensure the optimal performance and security of our devices.

As an Apple user, I have always valued the company’s reputation for delivering high-quality software and hardware experiences. I’ve spent a significant amount of money purchasing your devices, devices that are advertised as being the best in terms of quality, security, and user experience. However, this delay is testing my loyalty.

May of us who have invested in Apple products at a premium price feel as though we are being ignored. Its frustrating to see that despite paying top dollar for hardware that promises a seamless experience, we’re now left waiting for an update that was promised far earlier.

There are a growing sense that Apple is failing to prioritize its users in the way it once did. Many loyal users, like myself, are to consider switching to rival platforms that are more reliable and communicative about updates. Like Android and Windows and others.

If this issue is not addressed imediately, many users will begin to look elsewhere for their smartphone and tech needs. Apple has long been a trusted brand, but this delay raises serious questions about its commitment to maintaining the quality and reliability that so many of us have come to expect. I personally feel betrayed, especially after spending what I did for the hardware.

I urge you to take immediate action to resolve this issue and provide a clear update on when iOS 18.2 will be released. Apple must work to regain the trust of its users and show that our time, expectations, and loyalty are valued.

Thank you for your attention to this matter. I look forward to hearing from you soon.

Listen in my book they have 10 more minutes to redeem this fiasco.

I get this isn't that important for many of you but a lot of us spent $1000 on devices and we expect to be supported with software on time

you can't throw out a beta and then never service it unless you hate your customers

this is the kind of stuff M$ used to do with service packs
You are justified in feeling frustrated for having to wait 2 weeks (and possibly longer) since the last beta was released; many of us do.

You seem to be a sophisticated enough user to test betas and give Apple helpful feedback to improve iOS.

But it seems like you are experiencing a much bigger negative impact from this very long wait than most of us are.

Maybe you shouldn't be a beta tester, because it involves some significant downside risk, as you're experiencing now, or maybe you should install betas on a secondary device that you can live without for a while in the event of major problems from the beta.

Hopefully you made a backup before installing the beta and can go back to the last stable build, so at least you can have a functional device while you're waiting for RC or the public build of 18.2.

Just a note that there are about 1.5B, that is billion with a BIG 'B', iPhones in use today. USA = about 335 million folks and most use the iPhone but of course not all.

Is this a serious post? I really hope it isn't. If it is, you really need to take a breath and not let this bring on a melt down. Apple owes us nothing when it comes to beta or RC updates. They promised 18.2 public release in December, and they'll do that.

I hope it is serious, accurately reflects how I feel (and I'm sure many others). We paid thousands of dollars for our devices; is it too much to ask for a working RC released timely with the promised Apple Intelligence features? This is UNACCEPTABLE, TOTALLY UNACCEPTABLE!!!!!! My iPhone 16 Pro Max, iPad Pro M2, and MacBook Pro M3 Pro need this update to feel fulfilled.

If Gurman set a date, Apple should stick to his schedule. How dare they work on their own schedule?

Almost got me ngl. Brilliant 🤣🤣🤣

What are your thoughts on iOS 18.2 RC? Have we missed the release window this week? If so, could Apple skip the RC entirely and go straight to the public release? Or did Gurman possibly get his dates wrong? Curious to hear what everyone thinks!

My iPhone 16 PM is running just fine on beta 4. Please don’t generalize if you don’t have the data.

Maybe Thursday for the RC, with the official release on the 9th—but even then, it feels rushed. What happens if major bugs surface that aren’t caught in the short time between the RC and the public release? Seriously, what is Craig Federighi doing?

Which do you think is more likely: Apple skips an RC or Gurman is wrong (or was misled, possibly intentionally)?
