When you look at Android having this out at start of year, it really does look like Apple was asleep at the wheel, doesn’t it. Perhaps is time for younger blood there?
Yep - amazing what you can do when you dismiss concerns like privacy, security, copyrights, trademarks, data ownership, or how NOT to monetize every aspect of a tool.

Move fast and break things...We have learned nothing from Web 2.0.

The "young blood" you seek will be the Alphas who will have been forbidden from bringing phones into their classrooms, won't have spent 8 hours a day on TikTok, and will be tasked with cleaning up this Zellenial mess.

Me...I can wait a few months until Apple gets most of "AI" right, even if it remains limited in scope (which it will be...and should be).

The bar is low for me... I just would like Siri to be able to type a coherent sentence through dictation.

I know not all new features being available at Beta or public launch is nothing new, but this really must be the most half-baked new iOS launch ever
The feature announcement list wasn’t for users like us - it was for stock analysts and major investors.

They needed to show the market that they have a plan for AI - half-baked or not. Keeping up with the Joneses.

What will be urge for people to update for AI ability in September if the main features aren't coming to next year with the next phone release? I think the WWDC announcement was misleading. I will watch again to make sure.

It's not really about the users, it's about showing the market that $AAPL is going to have AI Features to compete with Microsoft and Alphabet.

Don't want. Won't use. Get it off my phone. I have never ever once in my life used Siri and now this seems like I will have no choice but to use it because it's just going to be part of the OS. Just leave me alone with all of this. I'm getting closer and closer to flat out disconnecting and going back to a flip phone. Life was so much easier back then.

It will take that long for them to download all of Craig Federighi's knowledge into the mainframe computer, the current processing power available will barely be able to render his hair. I don't think Apple Intelligence will be ready until 2026 at the least.

It seems like every year for the last 3 or 4 years, Apple has gotten worse about announcing features that people have to wait longer and longer to get. I would prefer Apple not announce features that aren't ready for release.
This is 110% on business types. Software devs will scream that features take longer to implement and get right than the time frames the business types allow but the business types will force push the updates because it makes them look good. Get MBAs out of software development and you’ll see a huge improvement. Software releases will be less but they’ll be worthy, finished upgrades.

When *I* stumble over words?

It's *Siri* that stumbles over words!

It's that Apple's line now, that I've been the one messing up all along?

You're reading Macrumors' take on a rumour promoted by a third party.

One nice thing about large language models, is that they have good reading comprehension, so you have something to look forward too.

The teeth gnashing over waiting a couple of months (iOS 18 comes out in the fall to begin with)…

Maybe I’m just getting older but this place, likely because the whole internet is going this way, is becoming a pit of negativity and “hot takes” that do not line up with reality at all.

I likely won’t use AI for several years until I move on from my 13 mini. That said, I have a tremendous respect for what Apple has done with Private Cloud Compute and on-device models. This is *going* to be a major product differentiator for the Apple ecosystem that no other Silicon Valley company’s *business models* will be able to match for at least several years.

Apple is going to take the time to roll it out properly? Boo hoo.

Oh, no! Remember, Apple is late with everything because "they want to get it right" (says many). Yet, is it ever "right"?
Hey Apple,, how about not announcing anything new unless you can release it in a few months, not years. Oh, wait...announcing something "new" props up your stock price, doesn't it? Nevermind.

Here come the obligatory “I’m willing to wait because Apple will do it right” comments. What a load of BS.

Really there is no excuse for them being this late to the AI party. And who are we kidding, it will be riddled with bugs anyway when it launches.

Of course, we're willing to wait.

Do you think we would be willing to switch to Windows, Android, and completely switch ecosystem?

In the meantime we can enjoy ChatGPT, Copilot and a lot of other AI tools on both the Mac and the iPhone/iPad.

So what will you do?

Switch to Windows AI PCs and Android? Completely switch ecosystem?

Not announce A.I means staying away from the hype. You'll see A.I stamped even on cleaning products.

Maybe all these new features will be ready in time for WWDC next year. 🙃

Apple, in interviews I believe, said these feature would roll out during iOS lifetime. So, yes.

Apple Intelligence will be available in beta on iPhone 15 Pro, iPhone 15 Pro Max, and iPad and Mac with M1 and later, with Siri and device language set to U.S. English, as part of iOS 18, iPadOS 18, and macOS Sequoia this fall.

Some features, additional languages, and platforms will be coming over the course of the next year.

So I get Siri correcting the mistakes I don’t make and a glowing light! You go Timmy. It feels like he’s playing a game to see how badly he can corrupt the company while keeping the stock price rising. All the while playing his fiddle.

It's *Siri* that stumbles over words!

It's that Apple's line now, that I've been the one messing up all along?

I talk to it slowly, enunciating every word, like I'm teaching a foreign language, and it is getting worse and worse at understanding as time goes on.

The voice control system they had for placing calls even prior to Siri worked better than this.

I won't doxx names but the person I call most often hands-free is constantly switched last second to calling another person with a COMPLETELY different name that sounds nothing alike. I can even see that it transcribes it correctly, and then last second, let's wildcard it! Let's call some random person you haven't spoken to in 20 years for the hell of it! And I have to rush to hit end before the call goes through. If sometimes even tries calling me! It picks my contact card to call.

They should have no aspirations other than getting it to do what they said it was supposed do 14 years ago.

My wife stumbles all the time talking to these things. You’d think it was an acting audition in front of an audience. Freezes. Repeats. Pauses.
