Mine sounds like hardware…
Even less convenient - abroad at the moment…
Flying back to the Uk tomorrow, straight to the Apple Store! Obviously they won’t have replacements, so let’s see how quickly I can get another one

Experiencing touch screen issue on iPhone 13. Apple may need to rethink the super small bezels since humans still use fingers to hold their phones.

It’s a widespread issue from what I can tell. I’m having issues while typing this out. Apple will get to it.

I just had this for the first time while using Whatsapp on the 16 Pro (18.1 beta 5), the 'send' message button aligns perfectly with the deadzone area next to the camera control, typed a message but then couldn't hit send.. had to hide the keyboard so the send button moved to a different spot on the screen.

edit: I should add it's not consistent at all and only happens sporadically (which is probably worse!)

I was watching the other day this video explaining exactly the issue with 16 Pro and thankfully it seems my unit is not affected. Yeah, it's most likely a software bug, but still curious, that it doesn't affect all units. My guess, since he is with Pro Max, the use of LG panels is more common there. May be it needs patch for LG screens. My 16 Pro uses Samsung.

It seems more likely to be software related than hardware related.

Problem is we have so many people running the beta, but not actually reporting anything. I've been guilty of that myself at times. Obviously Apple has their own employees also testing things, but if more people reported bugs during the beta period, more things wouldn't make it to public release as a bug.
I’ve reported a bug in the compass app since the original Apple Watch was released.

It is still there to this day. watchOS and iOS.

Noticed severe touch accuracy issues on iOS 18, iPhone 15 Pro Max. It frequently detects swipe gestures in the wrong direction, sometimes I try to scroll down in a feed and it thinks I'm swiping back. Other times it detects swipe gestures as individual taps.

Swiping to the side to close tabs in Safari is almost impossible now, it keeps thinking I'm swiping down. Just now it took 19 attempts just to swipe-close a single tab. It's almost as if they've rotated swipe detection by 90° anticlockwise.

Noticing it on my 16 PM. I wish Apple would make a statement regarding this.

New 16 PM received from Amazon, so far so good...
Original one returned to Apple Store, with some strong words of encouragement for a change in their protocols so they have stock to replace faulty units soon after launch day.

Even though they specify the 16 series, I wonder if this fixed anything for older generation devices? I'm seeing fewer swipe errors on my 15 Pro Max, but need more time to test in case it was just a fluke.

Update: Neither 18.0.1 nor 18.1 RC fixed the issue on my 15 Pro Max. Typing is really bad and swipe gestures are mostly broken.
