I do not think it is iOS 18. I have my 14 Pro still and have been using iOS 18 in beta up until launch for months with no issues. I got a 16 Pro Max and have noticed issues of this type. So I am leaning toward it being related to that device alone.

Iphone 16 Pro Max

Screen is super snappy.

Typing / Texting seems a little laggy, maybe not as accurate.

Screen doesn't seem to as accurately pick up what letters and numbers I'm trying to hit as my 14 pro. That could just be my imagination going from the 14 pro to the 16 pro max size.

Bezel symmetrical. That would bother me, if I had that on my phone.

If I am not imagining the screen lag and accuracy my guess is it will get an iOS update to solve it.

It’s not iOS18 specific. Installed 18 on 15PM and never had the issue. As mentioned earlier, 16PM screen has been a nightmare for me.
Had a lengthy discussion with Apple…surprisingly, this early on, they’re admitting this is an issue. They still aren’t sure if its software or hardware, but by their troubleshooting, Apple appears to believe one cause may be related to the new camera button and incidental contact…which I emphasized many times, has no impact on the issue for me.
Hopefully its not a bad batch of screens from a single supplier!!!

On multiple occasions I've noticed the copy/paste doesn't want to work and its present even on 18.1 beta four.

I agree. I'm starting to worry it might be a hardware issue. I'm not convinced the camera button has anything to do with the problem, at least in my case. I had it disabled and the problem persisted. I put the phone on the table and I'm no where near the button and the problem was still there. It's not just the typing that's problematic, the whole screen is laggy and not as responsive.

Considering jumping on the 18.1 beta to see if it improves…
Would I be able to revert to 18.0.1 when it’s released, without a Mac/pc?

During my discussion with Apple this morning, they currently do not have a fix, as they don’t know the root cause of the screen touch issues.
So don’t expect any of the betas to resolve the issue…at least not the current betas.

I think right now, Apple is still doing data gathering on just what happened. Given that Apple currently has a "strike team" of software engineers to quickly deal with iOS issues, they may have a fix by this coming Friday with the iOS 18.0.1 release.

Too many applications running in the background. It may get worse when AI fully implemented. On step that may help, turn off background app refresh.

nice to see this confirmed I’ve been getting this on the 16 Pro Max and and thought it was a hardware problem. Hopefully they can fix it with software

I’m running the 18.1 beta.

I'm also having issues with the cut / paste - it took five or six presses. I called Apple support and they ran an over air diagnostic test saying the phone didn't show any sign of issues and I would have to take it to an Apple store for further evaluation. Really disappointing Apple got this wrong....

This is really bad. I have used my 16 Pro Max a lot less as I cannot bear with these screen issues especially when typing on the keyboard. I do not think this is only specific to iOS 18 as I had 15 Pro Max on the beta version that was installed on the 16 Pro Max and I did not have any of these issues. I also installed the latest beta to my iPhone 12 just to test and I can type faster on that phone as the keyboard was not lagging unlike the 16 Pro Max. We have two week-return window so this is definitely going back if not fixed then because this might be hardware issue afterall and I don't want to have hard time with Apple support trying to get it swapped for another one.

Question for people with keyboard lag - do you have the click sound or the haptics enabled? I noticed that those can introduce lag, especially in conjunction with using something like AirPods

16 pro.
18.1 beta 5.
Typing is horrendous.
It just took me 10 times to hit the PiP tab on a video playing in the background.

Something is wrong.

Definitely. What do you guys plan to do? Are you guys hoping that a software release will fix this? I'll take advantage of the 14 day return window if not fixed then. My iPhone 16 (6.1) works fine so I know this is pro-relatsd issue.
