I highly doubt A12 Bionic and A13 Bionic iPhone models will get iOS 19

A14 Bionic [iPhone 12 series] most likely will be the minimum...
This doesn’t fit historical patterns whatsoever.
The A13 was introduced in a product back in 2021, so it will get support until at least 2026.
Apple always gives the last product of a processor generation at least five years of support, especially iPads.

Android doesn’t have such compact phones either anymore, unfortunately.

Just to add on to this, I don't understand folks who seem to get "mad" at those who prefer smaller phones ... or seemingly celebrate the total lack of options

It's not good for anyone to have such limited choice in device size/options (on Android and iOS!)

I just don't understand why people seem to be happy that everything is now basically a "Phablet"

iOS 19 will not drop support for any iPhone models, according to French website iPhoneSoft.fr. The report cites a source within Apple.

Generic-iOS-19-Feature-Mock-Light.jpg

The report said that iOS 19 will be compatible with any iPhone that is capable of running iOS 18, which would mean the following models:

  • iPhone 16
  • iPhone 16 Plus
  • iPhone 16 Pro
  • iPhone 16 Pro Max
  • iPhone 15
  • iPhone 15 Plus
  • iPhone 15 Pro
  • iPhone 15 Pro Max
  • iPhone 14
  • iPhone 14 Plus
  • iPhone 14 Pro
  • iPhone 14 Pro Max
  • iPhone 13
  • iPhone 13 mini
  • iPhone 13 Pro
  • iPhone 13 Pro Max
  • iPhone 12
  • iPhone 12 mini
  • iPhone 12 Pro
  • iPhone 12 Pro Max
  • iPhone 11
  • iPhone 11 Pro
  • iPhone 11 Pro Max
  • iPhone XS
  • iPhone XS Max
  • iPhone XR
  • iPhone SE (2nd generation or later)
The oldest devices in that list are the iPhone XS, iPhone XS, and iPhone XR, all of which were released in September 2018.

Of course, some iOS 19 features will be unavailable on older iPhone models.

If this report is accurate, it would be the second year in a row in which Apple did not drop support for any iPhone models with its major annual iOS release. iOS 18 is compatible with the same iPhone models as iOS 17 is.

iOS 17 dropped support for the iPhone 8, iPhone 8 Plus, and iPhone X.

There is slightly worse news for iPadOS 19, as the report said that update will drop support for the iPad 7 from 2019. Fortunately, the report said all other iPad models that can run iPadOS 18 will be compatible with iPadOS 19 next year.

The first iOS 19 and iPadOS 19 betas should be released during WWDC 2025 next June, and the updates are likely to be released in September. Not many iOS 19 features have been rumored yet, but Siri is expected to become more conversational like ChatGPT in a later iOS 19.4 update, which is likely to be released around March 2026.

Please, may try to keep this update smaller than 10 GIGABYTE!?!? Do you know what is .zip?

I cannot even remove pictures already uploaded in the cloud, I have to manually remove them... I know you won't grant this permission, the lack of this functionality must be exclusive to ios (yeh, because on Android the same cloud app can do it...).

...by the way, any trick you will implement NO... I won't upgrade to a new idevice...

XS and XR would be huge. Both Google and Samsung state/guarantee longer support nowadays, but I love that Apple just actually delivers.
You're not getting AI or new Siri on anything older than iPhone 15 pro. So what is exactly being delivered?

Will be nice if 11 series gets it and great if XS and XR get it. Many features will not be available in devices as new as iPhone 14 as Apple will be all in on Apple Intelligence and it's features.

It is not “mad” but frustration that people keep beating the same dead horse, over and over and over again. Bringing it up on every other thread whether it’s relevant or not. Expecting that non-ending repetition will change anything. It is like children in the backseat repeatedly asking “are we there yet”.

It is not about liking large phones, it’s about growing up and accepting the current state of reality.

It is not just a small iPhone but a large iMac too

13 and below are really bad for night shot

I don’t understand why ppl still have those devices

I can hardly tell the difference in photos taken on my iPhone 12, iPhone 12 Pro Max, iPhone 15 Plus and most recently iPhone 16 Pro besides the improvements in zoom obviously for how I take photos. Certainly no DAMN this looks amazing like going from a Nokia to an iPhone back in the day. I don't even say this is a bad thing, just shows that the photos on iPhone 12 are already great for casual insta shots

Can we get multiple users? limit the feature to 512gb devices so it's an upsell - apple gets more profit, users get better privacy.

iPhonesoft.Fr have a bad track record for this ( anyone remember them claiming first Gen iPhone SE wasn’t going to get iOS 13 because of its size lol)

But I believe they are right ( because I have also been thinking of just A12 and later)

1. The 7th Gen iPad is the weakest thing in which OS 18 supports and it has the A10 it’s so definitely gone from the list. If anyone can correct me the main reason why this still got iPadOS 18 is because Apple had some sort of contract with schools or anything education wise regarding the budget iPad for extra support from what I read but I’m not sure.

2. For the 3rd Gen Pro it will be the 7th major OS and the 8th Gen iPad it’s 5th major OS and because of those two combined for the Air 3 and Mini 5 iPadOS 19 will be they’re 7th major OD Update so it’s the last update for all A12 devices with the possible exception of A12Z because the A12Z supports 6GB

3. For the 8th Gen iPad in addition to it having the A12 it’s the last device to come in 32GB of Storage and will be defo supported so I can also see whatever 64GB A12 device getting iOS 19

4. As major Android manufacturers have now 7+ years of os support ( and the Snapdragon Elite taking that to 8 years) XR and XS will be the first smartphones to support 7 years of OS Updates besides iOS 12

5. And considering Air 2 received 7 OS Updates and managed to get 8 full years of iPadOS before iPadOS 16 came out it means any Air/Mini/iPhone XR/XS and later will receive more support finally around the Air 2 level (it will take the budget iPad many years to receive that level)

Digitalguy will also have extensive knowledge about this too😊 @Digitalguy

It’s a trap!

By keeping iOS support on old devices for longer, Apple can actually obsolete old devices faster.

Because new iOS updates often make old devices slower and more unstable than they would be otherwise.

Best to stick with a known-good iOS version on your old device and resist the temptation to update.
