Y'all are maybe half joking about the full, "ChatGPT-like" Siri only dropping until late into the iOS 19 or iOS 20 release.

But for those that don't have their iPhone set to English, this appears to be the reality. Even worse if it's one of the smaller languages.

I get that the wait is already bad for English. But the wait could be 2-3 years or more from now for most other languages.

How is it not within Apple's budget to hire more people to expedite Apple Intelligence development? It would just be for a few years to get a solid version out, not forever.

As competitors leap ahead, I really hope it hurts iPhone sales. Seems to be the only way they're going get it done.

Please just take a Snow Leopard year and fix the sloppy jankfest that is Apple software in the last 10 years. Actually more than 10, it was 10 years ago "Losing the Functional High Ground" was written.

Apple has become way too greedy.

Their competitive advantage was high quality hardware and software, and they're sorely lacking on the latter.

While competitors like Microsoft and Amazon move into more ambitious fields like Quantum Computing and AI, Apple is still fundamentally a consumer electronics company, so I'm not sure why they continue to neglect the most important part of the user experience - software.

They should focus on stability instead of continually trying to give a facelift every year just to appease shareholders.

Late stage capitalism is so horrible. Quality is out the window for the sake of constant "improvement."

That "re-created render of iOS 19's redesigned Camera app" still frame in the article doesn't show "More of the camera's viewfinder is visible compared to iOS 18", since that photo shows the camera controls taking up more space at the bottom end. But the Prosser video does show it, with the bottom control panel shrinking down after you've selected from it what type of image you want to capture, and the upper row of controls containing the shutter button, last photo thumbnail, and front/back camera selection button then move down.

I'm wondering where the zoom controls have been moved to.

I wonder if it's more a matter of the quality of Apple's current iOS developers rather than quantity. Maybe it's both. Or/and maybe management hamstrings them in some way.

things I've wanted for yEaRs:
- apps automatically updating when the update is released and not 20 years later
- mails to sync faster in the background
- solve the 3 millions bugs in the Phone app

3 simple things that would improve the experience a lot

It's literally in the name, but Phone is perhaps the single most ignored app Apple makes.

They need to slow down, skip a year on an update maybe. Start releasing the new versions with all major features done like they used to and let the .x releases just be bug fixes. We aren't even getting all the features that iOS 18 previewed last year until June of this year if even.

My uninformed belief is that it’s the complexity and difficulty of the project more than anything else, and that marketing has created unrealistic expectations around it. 🤷‍♂️

The new camera interface is interesting. Really hoping to see an improved Siri this year. Hopefully don't have to wait for 19.4 release and will see it this year itself.

“More ChatGPT-Like Siri” to be released march / april 2026…

Sorry Apple but don’t lose time with something we've already now, ChatGPT (and others) without the need of new hardware.

Focus on other features!

not sure how the iphone xr and 12 would do with much more image blurring processing, might be a battery disaster
