Actually, what I want is the ability to control the level of transparency via a slider control (or at least a stepped control with 4-5 levels of transparency).

WHAT? They listened to my complaints in feedback and fixed the problem? And they did it so fast! Only 6 years of waiting. THX, Apple!!! One more argument for making a decision to upgrade to 26 in a few months ... maybe.

Finally, this should have been an option since IOS 1. That’s the most annoying option ever. I don’t know why it still an option when you have the camera button. I’ll be the first one to disable it .
It’s the only feature worth upgrading to iOS26 for!

I hate this feature with a passion, and I've lost count of how many times I've accidentally accessed the camera.
This option should have been here a long ago, and defintely when the Action Button was introduced.

This was never issue for me, how on Earth you grabs your phone from the pocket to swipe a screen? What is going on with ppl?) LOL
We never know... it didn't showed up until I posted my message...it could be few secs before or his internet is faster than me and he is closer to the MacRumors server !

also good catch, i just catching my self about modern new iPhones - nowadays you can activate the camera by 4 different ways … : swipe (from right to left), button on the Lock Screen, Action button, and useless camera control button.
This actually shows how Apple completely lost on their road map. Camera control button absolutely useless with bad positioning, you will never put your finger at that position where is camera control button … this button will be deleted from production like Touch Bar on MacBook Pro. Same ****

This is the way I usually launch the camera on my iPhone. It’s just so convenient. Having to open the phone and then tap the Camera app seems so slow by comparison. I have launched the camera several times over the years unintentionally while lifting the phone for other reasons but it’s never been a problem. Obviously some of you have had a very different experience with this feature!

Next, I would like the only other annoying situation regarding the lock screen to be fixed: don't ask me why but I often hold my phone in unorthodox ways (usually when carrying other stuff in the same hand) and this leads to my finger touching the screen a lot, which triggers the change wallpaper menu.
I really would love Apple coming up with a solution to minimize that, either by introducing more delay before the menu pops or something like that.
Anyway, I'm glad.

Heck, I thought the option actually was removed the first time a camera button appears on the Lock Screen. I had no idea others were practically suffering because of it.

Bazinga, right? The Today View, when it was introduced, contained fixed information and couldn’t be configured so I turned it off immediately. Still is today.
But… let’s go for FaceID with the old slide and unlock, instead of immediate unlock just by glancing.
Nope… I want that option in iOS 18.7.2 too 🧐

Best feature in iOS 26 so far. Followed by the new possibility to switch off or tame Liquid Glass.
Wanna bet? Just read the other comments. There's a WHOLE LOT OF US that have hated having the camera app accidentally open from the lock screen when trying to clear notifications, or do other things from the lock screen. That option is going OFF on my phone once I have 26.1
