Wanna bet? Just read the other comments. There's a WHOLE LOT OF US that have hated having the camera app accidentally open from the lock screen when trying to clear notifications, or do other things from the lock screen. That option is going OFF on my phone once I have 26.1
Well if you have an iPhone 16 or 17... I guess you don't really need this feature otherwise well you might want it because what if you need to take a photo of something very fast?

I'd been using the swipe control for the camera for years. I've wondered why Apple didn't have you first authenticate with FaceID before it activated. I mean, you're going to be looking at the screen anyway. That would have solved a lot of issues.

I only rarely opened the camera by mistake, but I'm still very happy I can disable this.

I know it blocks access to the Photos app, but the idea that people can just fill the phone (and iCloud I guess) with photos without unlocking it never seemed like a good idea to me.

I can assure you that back when I had iPhones without the camera button, I still hated this swipe to camera feature. I'd rather loose one thousand of a second clicking the camera shortcut on the lock screen than having this swipe-triggered crap all the time by mistake.

Good.

I have only ever done this by accident. I always used the camera button. And now I use the camera control. But never the swipe (at least on purpose).

Yeah but now I'm accidentally launching the camera with the Camera Button! There's probably a way to turn that off, I haven't checked.
It's there, under camera--->accessibility--->turn off camera control
There is. Settings - Accessibility - Camera control - Toggle Off Camera Control

Nah don’t do that…

Settings -> Camera -> Camera Control

You can just change it to double click instead. Then you’ll at least have the option to use it when you want to, but won’t be launching it accidentally.

I also like to customize the controls and turn off light press, then uncheck everything and leave only Zoom for swiping, since that’s the only useful option for that button. Everything else is far too complicated and clunky to navigate with the camera control. The light press causes me to miss so many moments when I just wanted to zoom, instead it was switching options around.
