I have reviewed this thread and cannot determine if the following bug has been removed in any of the betas:

Settings> Privacy & Security > Wired Accessories. You cannot change the setting from "Always Allow".

A message says the following: "This setting is managed by your organization and cannot be changed"

This is a significant security issue and will allow 3rd party chargers that are hacked to get access to your phone's content.

I am on 26.0.1 and it is a private phone that is not managed by any MDM software.

Also a quick survey with friends indicates that the 3 that have the problem have 17 Pro Max and 2 that do not have the issue have Airs. This excludes friends with 16 Pro Max'.

Hey there,

This is a known issue / bug. I was checking my settings after reading Zak Doffman’s Forbes article. I reread it — he updated the article.

"Readers have reported a known issue with iOS 26 that may prevent you changing these settings until it’s fixed. It doesn’t affect all phones, but multiple users have reported the issue to me.

I’ve been told that all the options may be greyed out, or you may just see the “Always Allow” and “Allow When Unlocked” options, neither of which is a good, secure option for your iPhone. Ironically, it’s the two acceptable options that appear broken.

You may be advised to reset your iPhone’s settings to restore the Wired Accessory options ahead of an iOS 26 fix. Whilst this is apparently still in the works, it’s a huge inconvenience to reset your phone. You can leave the settings on their default ahead of the fix, just be wary of plugging anything into you phone whilst it’s unlocked.

There is no general information available on this bug as yet, but I’m told Apple is advising some affected users this will be addressed in the next iOS update. Whether this is the imminent iOS 26.0.2 or the more material iOS 26.1 remains to be seen."

This what I have also been told. It is a serious security bug and needs to be fixed now.

Hi,
13 pro on 26.1b4: I only have "Automatically Allow When Unlocked" and "Always Allow" displayed 🥲

Noticing a gradual slowdown, and then FPS drops and stuttery scrolling. Restart fixes it for a while.

WhatsApp doesn’t have the keyboard overlap bug anymore, but does have the bug where all msgs disappear while you’re composing a msg.

Battery life pretty bad.

Still very much a beta.

I’m noticing that my Photos spp storage on my phone has been increasing a lot over the last few days with beta 4. It’s now bigger than the Photos storage taken up on iCloud, and continuing to grow. Haven’t seen this before. Anyone else see this with beta 4, or prior?

Have'nt noticed it but perhaps your res changed to 48 vs 24? Or live photos came back on (if you had it off)? Or if you had optimized storage on and somehow it got turned off so now full res photos now being stored locally?

Nope, none of that. I'd everything fully downloaded already...I have a 2TB iPhone. It's jumped by about 45GB...above what I have even stored in iCloud. Definitely a bug.

Has anyone had issues with Mail not populating when received on the Mail app? I am receiving them fine on my macbook but they are not flowing through to my device. I have deleted the account, added it back. works initially but then stops receiving. Just trying to isolate this.

I like that they made this text selection menu able to be swiped for more options like the iOS 18 version. It was confusing for muscle memory since both the old and new menu appear depending on the app.

Honestly I'm impressed with how much better 26.1 is compared to 26.0. These x.1 updates usually aren't that significant but to me this one feels like what 26.0 should have been despite still being in beta.

Beta 4 seems to have gone downhill for me unfortunately. Seemed to work well since I installed it on Monday, very smooth.

Now my 17 Pro Max seems to be heating up a lot, randomly. Reboots don’t fix it - it’s sucking the battery whilst hot, for no apparent reason.

Nothing running in the background and good WiFi. Happens even after a fresh boot. Nothing downloading or backing up even.

I’m very surprised as beta 4 seemed like one of the best I’d used in a long time. There’s definitely some strange bug. I’ve a feeling it could be to do with the Photos app as its storage has ballooned by about 35GB, even though I had already downloaded my entire library from iCloud weeks ago.

What is the difference, if any between a "respring" & a "restart" of the iPhone? Thanks from an old dummy.

Also how to preform each please.

Respring isn’t user-initiated. Something crashes and the phone hiccups. You’ll typically see the little white spinner before it drops you back to the lock screen.

Restart is using your buttons or settings menu to power down then back up.

Beta 4 has been great for me in terms of improved battery life and glitches. I have noticed something strange on this beta that I haven’t had issues with before. Certain websites and apps won’t load over WiFi. I tried restarting my phone and resetting WiFi and it’s still not working correctly. Not a huge deal for me, but isn’t ideal to have to keep turning on and off WiFi.

Try turning off Private Relay under iCloud in Settings.

Absolutely brutal in terms of battery life. Much worse than 26.0.1. I hope this is because of the telemetry of the beta, won’t be pretty if this is how the final 26.1 is.
