Passwords

In the Settings section of the Passwords app, there's an option to manage websites where passwords are not saved when signing in.
One thing I wish they'd change, is the "autofill" on the tap-and-hold on a text field (screenshot below).
I want it to offer my alternative password managers and not use the Passwords app.
Have to rely on the UI above a keyboard offering the option to autofill, and that doesn't always offer to fill in login boxes.

If Apple doesn't offer customisation. They're deemed restrictive, patronising, and controlling. And they need to be more 'open'.

If Liquid Glass is so good and impressive, why does it need settings?
And to continue this line of thought: do we now have toy-like settings where we adjust the UI ourselves to make it ā€˜just right,’ like on toy Android? Apple’s core principle has always been clarity and simplicity, not introducing millions of toggles and options to customize like on mess-Android. Apple has truly lost its way big time.
If they do offer customisation then comments like this spring up.

There's no winning.

Actually, no. The only ones who have ever complained about the lack of openness are Android users who wouldn’t use Apple even if it became ā€œopen.ā€ Real Apple users don’t want so-called openness, which in reality is just chaos. User interfaces should be designed by designers. As for this new feature, it’s pathetic that users now have to fix poor UI themselves through a bunch of toggles in the settings. Absolutely pathetic.

It did fix an annoying UI bug where the "Fill Username" button on the passwords dialog was set too low, so that's cool.

The way I see it is, everyone is different. These people that complain about controls -- DON'T FREAKING USE THEM! For those of us that want customization (the majority), then the more the merrier. Because you can customize Android, makes it a toy? Many people choose Android because you can make it look how you want it to look and not have a cookie-cutter, every phone looks the same iPhone!

There's no winning because it shouldn't be a contest.

All I wanted is for Apple to fix CarPlay where my iPhone 17 Pro Max stops disconnecting. Yes, I’m using a wired connection.
You’re having this too?! I assumed it was something that went bad in my car and was thinking I needed to replace some connection interface. It only started happening when I got my 17 Pro Max. Tried multiple cables, went to the Apple Store to have them run diagnostics in case it was the USB port on my phone… so maybe it’s just something Apple needs to fix?

It happens anytime a notification is received by my iPhone 17 Pro Max - CarPlay freezes and then disconnects... its actually dangerous

Having read through these comments I think I’ll stay on 18.7
CarPlay is essential for me, having just moved to a new area & am very reliant on google maps to get me around !
Also never been a fan of this liquid glass thing, my uncorrected eye sight is poor & I feel I’d struggle with it.
I might just wait for iOS 27, won’t be long for that now 🤣

Can someone explain me who’s using alternative app stores and why? Serious question
There are pros and cons regarding these alternative app stores. There are apps, Apple never would accept in their store, be it regarding the functions or the 18+ target/content of the app...

The big con for me is: security. I do not use it, because I am running too many important things on my iPhone, like all the banking stuff. I appreciate the restrictions of Apple. I am happy with the official apps of my bank, credit card etc.

The good thing: You CAN use it or you can just forget about it.

I want to stay on 18, currently I’m on 18.7.1, I’m sure there’s a newer version(on my iPad I can see there’s a 18.7.3) but on my 15 Pro all I’m offered to upgrade to is 26.2, swiped up to see if any links below that for an 18 version are there, but nope, cannot see a link anywhere.
Any tips on finding it ?

There are none, since Apple in their manipulative wisdom, hasn't released it yet, hoping everyone will download 26.2. I won't - the readability issue is real for me, and it's amazing Apple is so arrogantly obtuse that they won't let us adjust liquid glass! I wanna adjust it out of existence.

And to not let users get the security updates who want to remain on 18 is insulting! And dangerous. I'm really not happy with spending so much and being so invested in Apples ecosystem, just to be treated so insultingly.

Well, I ā€œupgradedā€ to 26.2 from 18.7.2 on most of my devices. No major problems. But, as is typical Apple, there are a lot of new features that I have no interest in and a lot of change for the sake of change. Still waiting for full, end-to-end encryption of RCS texts. And I still have AI and Siri turned off.
