Official versions are just as bad as the Beta versions

Apple has lost the quality control plot.
I know exactly what your next response will be " change to android "
If you think Apple QC is bad, you should go browse and android forum for 5 minutes..... I have a galaxy S24 for work and there have been so many times I've wanted to slam it through a wall out of frustration with the OS

Based on the responses here it would seem that the 17 Pro / Max camp are the most satisfied with this update.

Me on the other hand 16 Pro user is sitting on the fence.

I would appreciate feedback from 16 Pro users if it is worth the effort / frustration to update from 26.1
15PM & 16P updated and no problems.

Talk about missing the point. This is an RC release, which is basically identical to the final release (except for some recent examples where final got an updated build) and in any case, the same unpredictable behavior rings true for many final releases just as much as it does for the beta. Installing any IPSW these days is equivalent to playing Russian roulette with your phone, it doesn’t matter what kind of build it is classified as. None of this would even be in question if the trillion dollar tech company’s software wasn’t consistently broken and unusable.
I hope you reported all the existing bugs you found. RCs have been known to be fixed to RC2, with your help.
Me, I can't find any more bugs.

That’s unfortunate. I’ve only had issues with IPSW update for some weird reason even with pkg file installed.

Did you end up having to DFU or did it finish after awhile?
DFU'd. After over 2 hours of waiting for the bar to finish, I reloaded the phone. Got stuck on apple logo then. Tried twice.

Newly introduced visual glitch in RC. Collapsing “Now Playing” view in Apple Music gives a weird black overlay on the music bar.

(iPad) If you have a Slide Over app window hidden off the right side, vertical scroll bars along the right edge in full screen apps can’t be interacted with.

(iPad) No fixes for traffic lights background transition or Safari tabs background colour.

This is what the light grey UI glitching in Safari looks like. It’s not constantly-reactive to the webpage content underneath, once it locks in light grey like this you have to switch tabs or apps to revert to normal.

Normal

Aside from the obvious visual inconsistency, its reducing the contrast and readability of white text and icons.
Window traffic lights background still pointlessly transitions from light to dark.

Damn man. I’ve read your later posts in this thread too, and 26.2 seems to really have it in for your phone.

After all you’ve tried, the only thing I can suggest (aside from wiping, bleh) would be a wireless CarPlay dongle. Maybe you’ll have better luck with one than I did.
I've actually thought about that, too, but my only worry is that two other phones were not having this issue on iOS 26.1, and will need to wait for the official release to see if there's then issues with those on 26.2

Have you tried attaching a hard drive or something to your phone to see if you can do data copies? I was thinking maybe this is a hardware issue. Also if you know anyone with your same phone to try it in the car and see if it works?

When you swipe in a Slide Over window, the window’s vertical position is locked.
When you swipe out a Slide Over window, the window’s vertical position is free.

Maybe just a personal preference but I’d like the swipe in vertical lock to be there when swiping out too, like it was prior to iPadOS 26.

edit: added video showing Slide Over scroll bar conflict and slide in/out behaviours.

I’m having no issues when I connect and open Xcode

Why am I constantly supposed to be the test guinea pig for a $3 trillion dollar tech company? Are they paying me to put my device and personal info at risk yet again? No I think not. So all iOS releases should be accompanied by a note saying “this update is safe to proceed with” or “WARNING This iOS update and/or Apple Devices is broken and may result in a broken iPhone or data loss”
It shouldn’t even be a question I have to ask, but at least I am asking.
See: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Software_release_life_cycle

You are running beta software. You literally signed up to be a test guinea pig. Don't want to be one: don't run beta software.

Again, missing the point. Did you even read through the thread? Do I have to repeat myself for you?
