Must be only for newer phones. I don’t have it on 15 Pro

Would you be willing to turn off smoothing for a minute to see if you can see the square appear behind the magnifying glass icon?

Needs to be on a white screen (like song list) and it happens briefly after the icon changes size (going in and out of compact mode)

Sure but could you elaborate what exactly you’d like me to check?

With Liquid Glass set to clear and pwm smoothing off. Get to a light colored list like the songs list in music.

Watch the magnifying glass as it enlarges or shrinks as you scroll.

I’m seeing a light gray square appear briefly behind the magnifying glass specifically. I can’t capture it in a screenshot or video because it doesn’t show up.

Anyone curious about what Liquid Glass looked like really early on in development?

In safari, view your open tabs, then click the search icon.

Look at what the search field looks like!! It looks nothing like the rest of the os.

It has a strange type of gradient shading to it. I have to wonder if that’s what early Liquid Glass was and they forgot to update this particular piece of the OS.

Checked it with it both ON and OFF.
I’m not seeing any gray squares. Search icon goes back and forth smoothly without any inconsistencies.

The search box is new. I had a feedback item they implemented to stop having to scroll all the way to the top of open tabs to search the tabs. Likely too new to have full polish.

Oh interesting.

What's weird is why wouldn't they just use the standard search field? It's unlikely that they purposefully redesigned it just for this one screen and then forgot to polish it.
