I even hear people in real life (non techies) complain why their battery life is so bad all of a sudden, and I look and they are on 26.5.2

Of course there is no other update for me to install and I am about to to leave on a long trip. Where I will really need use of my iPhone through long days and will be away from power for extended periods of time. Apple really screwed me here.

Maybe they’ll surprise drop 26.5.3

This update is the worst since day 1. It really killed my battery and made my phone really really slow. iphone 17 pro.

i doubt they will release 26.5.3 since 26.6 is getting close for release.

i cannot understand how some security updates killed the phone and the battery. pathetic.

It must be related to HW in some specific phones or some software (app) clashing with 26.5.2
I have no issues on the 16, 16 pro that I use daily. And have had no reports from the 1500 users I support that's a mix between 14,16 and SE3. Would be interesting to try and find out more on what's causing this.
17 pro seem to really be affected by battery drainage since a few versions back.

I'd say 26.6 is prob 2-3 weeks away from release so we prob won't se a 26.5.3

26.6 is likely next week, 26.6 RC just dropped today.

Another 1-3 weeks is too long to wait when they issued an update already several weeks ago that decimated the functionality of their devices. Apple needs to be more proactive about issuing updates when needed and fixing the issues as they pop up. Not just going “ehhh we already have another update coming out soon enough, they can just wait for that one”

I've been an iPhone user for over 15 years and this is by far the worst battery life I've ever experienced. I went directly from 6-7 hours of SOT to 3-3.5 hours max on my 17 Pro after this update and the phone is constantly warm to the touch.

My old iPhone 15 non-pro is fine.

26.5.2 really was 💩

Early days but I updated my Air to 26.6 RC last night, and it’s running cooler around the camera plateau area with reduced battery drain both idle and active use. Hope it continues!

I just experienced a hard crash on my iPhone and came here to write about it. I am absolutely disgusted with the state of iOS 26.5.2
You can’t depend on this phone for anything

It's fascinating how different the experience of 26.5.2 has been. Haven't had any of the crazy battery drain, heat issues or hard crashes that's been mentioned. The only report from my friends and family is the horrible battery drain of a iPhone 13 with battery health below 80%. But haven't got a decent answer (teenage is not my first language anymore) if it has been like that before 26.5.2 or if it started now.

Wonder if its model related or SW related (like an app causing it) or something else. Hard to troubleshoot and compare in a forum what it could be.
Glad to hear 26.6 seem to solve the issues some of you experience. It will be even more interesting to find out what's being updated in 26.6, if its components such as the network, BT stack, API's or something else. IF the relese notes does contain that info.
