Yep. Few more days and it appears to be holding up well.

This is good enough that I may hold off on installing the official release for a few days as I don’t want to go backwards. Will wait to see other’s experience with the official release and hope the battery life is the same.
Installed RC 2 last night and the battery appears to be draining faster again. Not as bad as before but not as good as RC 1 was for me. So call it somewhere in between.

I'll give it another day. But if you were like me and got a nice boost from RC1 and wanted a data point on whether or not to install RC2, I'd hold off for a few more days.

Should have taken my own advice as I was going to hold off on installing the official release so not sure why I couldn't help myself on RC2. Oh well.

On 26.2 RC 2 iPhone 15 Pro and I think I fixed my battery drain. I turned on adaptive power and then forced restarted my phone. iPhone used to drain 10% in one hour and now I’m at 7% drain in 2 hours of similar use. Idk if it was the adaptive power that did it or the forced restart. I tried to use adaptive power before with no success. Don’t know why it’s working this time around.

Odd. I turned off AP, and my battery drain got way better. 15 PM, battery health at 85%, cycle count 484. GoldMac2006...I like your results but i had AP on last week on my 15 and hit 50% drain by 10am. I turned it off and im averaging 20 hours a day battery life for mormal use; and thats work hours.

I love the concept of AP but my experience with it last week was awful.

Any intense apps open like games?
No it’s not related to any apps. This is very linked to iCloud. If I am logged in, my battery decrease more quicker (twice) than if am not logged in.

The difference is especially remarkable on scattered uses throughout the day rather than on a single use of an application for a long time. For example, if I watch YouTube for 30 minutes it will be almost the same. But if I turn on my iPhone every 10 minutes to check my messages, I quickly see the difference.

I’m not sure it’s always the same. Sometimes, when I’m using Discord a lot on my iPhone with adaptive power, my iPhone drains too quickly. iPhone 15 Pro with 91% battery health after over 500 cycles.

But how did you reach 85% health when you haven’t even hit 500 cycles? Are you a heavy user? 👊

Then do you have private relay on? Sync iMessage or apps a lot with iCloud?

Thats whats funny. I'm actaully not. My 14 year old pounds on his phone and his battery is roughly the same as mine. I'm going to turn AP back on, reboot, and see if anything changes. Im on RC2 BTW...I only load the betas when it hits the RC stage.

I do also suspect that some of AP is based on how an app use it. I think some apps are better optimized for it.

Dang bro I forgot the RC of iOS 26.2 had a rerelease. Y’all with 15 pros tell me more about the battery life, as of now battery life has been good yesterday I ended the day around 11pm at 20%, last charge was 1pm when I got out of school.

I'm happy to know I'm not alone ! I turned off AP a few days ago and my battery life has improved also .

Private relay off, iMessage synced yes. I have also tried to disable every switch in iCloud settings but still the same. The only fix is to log out.

OK...full charge this AM. AP on, 26.2 RC2. I have a week's worth of data with AP off. Let's see how AP works being turned on today. Phone off charger at 6:00am CST.

Getting amazing battery on 26.2 RC2 - 17 Pro MAX.
Only changed I made is deleted all widgets which were draining battery for no reasons and don’t need to be refresh all time.

It’s amazing! I’d love to remove widgets, but I want to keep the original default setup of my Home Screen with widgets, which was introduced with iOS 14. So, I’m not interested in it. However, removing the Smart Stack makes it better, doesn’t it?

I still have app sync on on iCloud.

so y'all want to encourage me to get off adaptive power mode? Is it because its not helping enough?
In my case it makes no difference. The only difference is with iOS 26.1. I’ve always had that option on, makes zero difference. Just turning on and off my 16 Pro Max reduces the battery percentage significantly; low power mode does nothing, and I still often (not always) lose up to 10% during the night while the phone is being idle, but not used. That’s simply not normal. And yes, I’ve had iPhones long enough to know the battery saving tips, yet there’s just no doubting that iOS 26 is a battery hog. Waiting to see if 26.2 will make any difference.

I agree it’s with iOS 26.1. Never had a problem before that.

Installed RC 2 last night and the battery appears to be draining faster again.
That says nothing about nothing, as any and all updates can cause all kinds of optimizations, reprocessing of things, and further updates, that can go on for days. And that in turn can cause apps to have to work harder instead of with different caches. Or the device is used differently by you just because you installed it and were checking for things, or changed some settings. Or the weather or lights around you were brighter that day so the screen was automatically a bit brighter.

I'm on RC2 (17PM) and thought the battery drained a bit quicker yesterday, but then realized that I was under a bright office light while using the iPhone as a hotspot. So, you know, different environment and usage.

That’s kind of what I usually do after the initial set up: I delete all the widgets, both from Home Screen and the left widget page, and then, I insert only the ones that I actually use (calendar, weather and reminders). Maybe that’s why I usually get better than average battery life regardless of the iOS version?

Let’s cross our fingers and hope that 26.2 is really that battery efficient even on older devices.

So more idle drain? On school days I don’t use my iPhone as much and more of my Mac so the idle drain was the same

OK...two days in with AP on and with it off (from the previous week) and zero difference for me. It was within 1% each day. I will say though that the masive drain and AP notificatons al day died down after loading RC2 and a reboot. So for me, on my 15 PM, it neither hekps or hurts.

I’m guessing you didn’t see my earlier comment about the much improved experience I was having with RC1.

I was intentionally making a quick comment for anyone that was debating updating to RC2 after having a similar experience as me with RC1.

I’ve had enough iPhones and done enough updates to understand what you’re saying.

I’ve also watched my battery usage enough on this iOS and others to know my usage and when there’s more or less drain.

After a few days in RC2, my experience has been consistent with my first day. It’s been better than 26.1 and better than the first few betas. But not as good as my week with RC1. Which was very close to my experience with my 16PM.

That does give me some optimism that we’ll get back to that with some future updates.
