What do you mean by that? How can you disable the new phone app and in what way "classic"?

In B4, the bottom icons in mail are unreadable with a white email background. With the phone set to dark mode, anything with a white background and the icons become unreadable as they stay white. Scroll to a darker section and they show up ok.

This was not an issue as far as I can remember in B1, B2, or B3.

This issue doesn’t seem to affect Safari, as the icons change to black ones once you scroll to a white background.

I'm having an issue with all my home-screen folders.

When I open them, only the icons down the left side (i.e. the first column) show. All the other icons flash then disappear. A reboot hasn't helped. Will try a hard reboot later.

Edit: Someone else has the same issue, also with an iPhone 11.

Define good enough. For Apple it's good enough when your device doesn't get bricked or end up in a bootloop. DB4 being PB1 wont magically make it any less of a crappy release, if DB4 is one. Being released as a PB is not a quality seal nor is it a good indicator of the build being of high quality.

They released first PBs with cellular data issues in the past (e.g. modem restarting or calls dropping), cause they deemed it to be not a high priority bug that needs hotfixes.
"Good enough" is subjective. I've been running beta releases on my daily driver for years. Typically, I jump on around DP3 or 4. I am aware that there a tons of reasons why the DPs should not be installed on your main/only phone. I am also fully capable and comfortable rolling back, if it's warranted.

Waiting for the PB1 release is just another level of confirmation that it won't brick my phone. I know stuff won't work perfectly, and some things may not work at all. iOS 26 is a huge change, at least visually, and maybe that's part of my hesitation. I also have a 3-week vacation trip coming up at the end of the month, which also gives me pause. I know that I can recover from a bad situation, but do I want to have to be doing that while we're away and I'm trying to relax.

With all of that said, I have the current dev preview on an older iPhone and on my daily driver iPad mini - and have from DP1.

I’m sure it’s maybe just muscle memory, but are the controls in the camera app (toggling between modes at the bottom, e.g. Video to Photo to Pano) inverted swipes now? Is it just me? I’m on a lot of meds now (surgery), but I swear I’m having to swipe in the opposite direction. Not a biggie either way, just was curious.

You're correct. It's very odd.

The Liquid Glass on the lock screen is boring gray, despite the homescreen’s being properly tinted.

The Liquid Glass on the homescreen items, control panel, and likely elsewhere have a parallax effect.

And notifications are back to the rounded rectangles of previous iOS releases, not the considerably rounder ones we had in B1.

No, they switched the places of the shutter and the mode switcher last beta, and now you have to touch and grab that bubble and drag it to the mode you want. It’s all counterintuitive to what we’ve been doing for like 20 years.

The Hz is variable. At peak it's 120, but it is often 60. I have seen videos showing how really fast actions are only like 80-90 Hz. I could be wrong, but I do not believe iPhones will render more frames than they can display, so your FPS should be same as your Hz.
Whether you’re right or wrong doesn’t matter. I have too read that article. That might also be the problem why Apple phones don’t feel as smooth as some of the top tier Androids.

Has the keyboard lag and typing lag been fixed? On 18.5 and 16 pro max the keyboard lag with predictive text enabled. Does iOS 26 beta 4 fix it at all?
