I’ve seen this happen ever since Apple introduced different app icons
Creaky ol' Springboard still trying to work with all the stuff that gets bolted on every year. Basically, all the iOS 18 changes to Home Screen are still buggy in iOS 26. Not only do the icons change color occasionally, but they don't stay where you leave them when customizing your home screen still. Thought this stuff would have been sorted out before 18.0 GM.

I'm having an issue with all my home-screen folders.

When I open them, only the icons down the left side (i.e. the first column) show. All the other icons flash then disappear. A reboot hasn't helped. <snipped>

Feedback is flagged as "more than 10" so it'll get fixed soon.

Not many complaints about it, so might only affect a few phone models, or even just the one!

Am I the only one that keeps erasing my intended safari search by tapping the X next to the search/url field? My muscle memory keeps wanting it to be the enter button. really frustrating when I have a long search term and then my thumb just erases it.

Also, does it seem that swipe to type is much worse than it was before?

If it’s frustrating file a feedback maybe they change it :)

I think the keyboard will be fixed late in the beta cycle.

You're not the first, but I have not seen any issues across my devices (including a 16PM).

Check your settings:
  • Low Power mode off?
  • ProMotion on?
  • Content blockers disabled?
  • Clear Safari cache?

Try loading an endlessly scrolling page like Slashfilm. When you near the bottom of the article, it loads the next. Scroll at a decent pace (and try scrolling back up too). If it "bottoms out" waiting for the next article to load too often, there might be a caching issue (or a slow connection).

Would also like to hear if anyone experiencing these issues finds scrolling stutter in long Notes or Pages documents. Is this just limited to web content rendering or an animation issue?
For me on my 16 PM this stuttering on B4 affects pretty much everything. This was never an issue throughout the whole OS before on B1, B2 or B3 where it was limited to a stutter when scrolling between home screens.

Just zooming into my eufy cameras and panning the image around its clearly stuttery, same in Safari, Music, opening and closing folders or even just scrolling through settings. It feels bloody horrible, this is definitely not ready for a public beta yet.

Best way I can describe it is it feels like a game that has very bad frame time pacing so it feels really stuttery.

I never use low power mode and pro motion is always on.

Do you maybe have adaptive mode set to active?

In battery settings?

If yes, try turning it off maybe.

Or try a fresh ipsw install?

Adaptive mode is always off. I did do a clean ipsw install and it’s just same. Tried a clean ipsw install of B3 and 18.6 RC and they run significantly smoother. Just B4 that runs line crap.

Seems there’s a few around that’s noticing this issue on Reddit with this version as well. I really hope B5 fixes it.

So you have to wait until early August for b5 - maybe go back to 18.6 RC for the time you waiting for b5?
Or can you live with it?

I can live with it for now, have no choice anyway as my Ultra 2 is on B4 😄. The watch is running great on this beta, as is my iPad mini A17 Pro surprisingly.

This is what that made me go back to 18

App update quirks!

I don't allow iOS to auto-update my apps, this way I can see all the updates coming in as they do.

After the system presents a list, select "Update All." Then, usually per app, I can see each of them download and install, and then they move into place on the list. Now I'm seeing them all register to begin the process and then disappear (so you cannot see progress), only to pop back in after completion.

Before reporting this, can anyone confirm that they are seeing this odd behavior?

Yes we mentioned this yesterday, I think it’s a bug for everyone.

They don’t disappear, they simply move to the bottom of the updated apps list while updating and move back up when done. Just scroll down and you’ll see them updating. It’s a bug that will hopefully be fixed in the next release!

For me it is marked as „less than 10“ reports

Why wouldn’t you report it if no one else sees this happen?

The biggest improvement I have seen from Beta 3 to 4 is the improvement in Siri voice in CarPlay. It was very robotic in B3. Now, it sounds human.

Yeah I liked that too. Unfortunately a bug means that even if I turn it all off, no calls at all goes through. Even when they are in my contacts. Missed calls from mechanic, the bank and a few others bc of that. No calls, just a notification that I missed a call. Had to revert to iOS 18 bc of that. And it looks so outdated now…
This is a bug in beta 4? I haven't experienced that, but will report back if I do.

Thanks. I think I experienced this last night while charging my iPhone 16 Pro Max on a Nomad Stand One Max (which I believe uses a MagSafe 2 charging puck). When I placed my phone on the stand (with about 40% battery remaining), it took at least 5 seconds for it to begin charging. Once it got to 82%, I noticed that it stopped charging and the back of the phone was very warm. I didn't notice any disconnect/reconnect cycles -- it seems like the phone just stopped charging completely. Maybe if I left it on the stand longer it would have tried to restart the charging cycle.

I then took my phone off the stand and waited a couple of minutes for it to cool down. But when I put it back on the stand, nothing happened -- it simply refused to start charging again. I tried a couple of times with no luck. The only way to get it to start charging again was to unplug the stand from the wall, wait 30 seconds, and plug it back in. Once I did that, it charged from 82% all the way up to 100%.

I didn't have any issues with this Nomad charging stand while running iOS 18, so I have to imagine this is somehow related to an iOS 26 bug.
Come to think of it, I believe Qi2 has recently updated specs that allows 25 watt charging. My Nomad Stand One (Qi2 version) charges to 15 watt. I’ll bet Apple is working on updating Qi2 and possibly MagSafe2 charging, and that’s why we are experiencing issues with these types of charging…..

Additional Notes

To get the beta over-the-air:
  1. Enable Beta Updates (Settings > General > Software Updates > Beta Updates)
  2. Make sure you’re signed into the right Apple Account
  3. Select which beta you’d like to receive (public/developer beta)
  4. Hit "Back" and pull down to refresh
  5. Back up to a computer or to iCloud
  6. Install the beta
If you no longer wish to receive beta updates:
  1. Turn off the Beta Updates (you can also sign out of your Apple Account to reset this setting)
  2. Wait for the next public release or follow the guide below to go back to a release build
Troubleshooting: If the beta doesn’t show up on your phone, try turning on airplane mode, then turning it back off, or restart your device.

How to install using a Mac?
  1. You’ll need the Xcode beta itself or a MobileDevice.pkg somebody extracted from the beta (click with two fingers or control-click), then choose Show Package Contents. Go to Contents/Resources/Packages. - this will work on older Macs that do not support the latest macOS or Xcode betas)
  2. Back up to your Mac or to iCloud in case you need to go back to another version
  3. Hold down Option, then click on ‘Check for Update’/‘Restore iPhone...’ and select the IPSW file you downloaded from the Apple Developer site. Note: You must be connected to the internet to complete the restore.
  4. Enter your iPhone passcode if you’re prompted to do so.
Notes/Tips:
  • Always keep a backup in case you need to restore your phone
  • Restoring wipes your settings and all data on your iPhone
  • You only need to reinstall MobileDevice.pkg if your Mac stops recognizing your iPhone
  • There is no MobileDevice.pkg equivalent to iTunes for PC which would require a new iTunes to support new/beta iOS
  • Upgrading to a newer iPhone? You can update using your Mac before setting up the phone

Try Reset Network Settings. I can't explain how, but it's worked to solve a bunch of odd issues in the past.
