Anyone else seeing this:

I go into Settings —> Apps —> Phone and the “Default Calling App” is set to FACETIME. I clock on it to change it but the following screen already shows it set to “Phone”

It sticks until the phone is restarted or you force-close the settings app

Hi everyone, the truth is that there's still a long way to go before we can at least safely install these early betas. If anyone has done the same thing as me and updated without making a backup before the update, don't worry. You can restore it by modifying the info.plist file in the backup folder. You just have to edit it, changing the version to iOS 18.5 in that file. The changes will be saved, and you can now restore without any problems. Best regards, and I hope this helps someone.

Just a note on iPhone restore, I backed up the wife's 16P iOS26 on my WIN 11 laptop using iTunes & performed a restore. The 16P restored to same operation with no problem. FWIW

In Spain, it works as expected, but I had to disable it. When people hear a robot talking to them, they hang up because they think it's a spam number. I've already missed several calls from doctors or transporters, so I've disabled it, and it will continue to do so. A spam filter is what Google or Samsung have; it's an answering machine that actually does more harm than good because people have already learned that if a robot speaks to you, that number is a spam or scam number. And here in Spain, at least, we can receive more than 10 such calls depending on the day. It's going to cause a lot of problems if Apple insists on leaving it enabled by default, as it's doing in the beta versions. I have to disable it after each update because Apple keeps enabling it again.
I had it on and my doctor would answer the questions but l wouldn't get a notice to pick it up.

Apple design team this week:

Just make up your mind so the developers can actually start implementing this glass stuff. It looks different each time, so why would anyone start working on their app prior to mid-September? The fact that they can't make up their minds on something that Gurman says has been in development for 3 years is shocking.
Devs use materials so they automatically change as Apple changes them. They can still start testing the design change, as the changes are not fundamental, just opacity

You may not notice issues now but there's a good chance you'd end up with some with future updates.
If you can afford to start from scratch then I highly suggest you do. Restoring point updates is one thing but a major revision, especially with a change like iOS 26, you can't expect a flawless downgrade.

Decided stuff if I’m gonna try the beta on my 16 pro daily driver.

Bit of heating up and battery drain as expected originally but now running cool and battery is surprisingly decent for pb1 (2 hours usage and I’m on 87%, mix of wifi and 5G)

I haven’t had it installed for 24 hours just yet and so far my only complaint is the battery tab, I found it a little confusing.

I see what people mean about the stutters and imo it really isn’t that bad in my experience, sometimes it won’t pick up on the odd touch here and there and only once has my phone refused to turn the screen on for like 10 seconds (also a issue I had on iOS 18)

from all the previews I hated the glass look but now that I’m using it, it looks pretty good and I’m already used to it, pretty excited to see what comes with the next betas 😊
